Trump thinks he is America.
Given this, yes, he should expect America to burn.
Then maybe we can get back the America that’s comprised of the people.
Trump is the epitome of the US - capitalist, sociopath, selfish, superiority complex, immigrant, mentally and physically sick, corrupt, obsession with fame and being talked about.
This is why the rest of the world hates the US. Trump is a symptom of all your systems. As far as the presidency, it's been a downward slope since Ford pardoned Nixon.
i'm like, none of those things; although i might not be in the best physical shape and could use some health care.. i could still whoop little miss tiny hands in any athletic feat.
Trump is an immigrant?
He certainly isn't Native American - they got genocided and ethnically cleansed (let's add those to the previous list too).
The majority of USians aren't Native American but USians they'll bitch about immigration when they're primarily a country of immigrants. The hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance is astonishing. It might be a symptomatic of the poor historical accuracy and relevancy taught in schools - they don't even realise who they are or where they come from.
I bet half of them will claim they're Irish too.
That's not what an immigrant is...
Someone who can trace their history back to another country can be classed as a product of immigration. That is what immigrants are.
You can say "but he was born here" but that means nothing if you're rascist like the GOP and hasn't stopped ICE deporting people who were born in the US and are citizens - they just happened to be non-white. Trump grandfather came over in the 1880s. He is of immigrant stock - he probably has less of a claim to being American than many other people on the continent . You might not want to believe it, or claim 14th amendment (which is fair, from a US legal perspective) but technically, every single white person is a product of immigration. Black, Latino or Asian too - it's not just white folks.
Trump is just closer to being an immigrant than many others - you could call him a 3rd gen immigrant. That is how he would be classed if he wasn't white.
I hope I'm getting across the point that most people in the world are of immigrant stock at some point or another and so it's really a non-argument that has deep-rooted rascist undertones whilst not taking into consideration history.
A "product of immigration?" Sure. An immigrant? No. That's simply incorrect. An immigrant is someone who migrates to another country. Someone who was born and lived in the same country their entire lives is in no way, shape, or form, an immigrant.
Spoken like someone who doesn't experience bigotry on a daily basis. Your lack of understanding shows you're not a target. Doesn't matter what it actually means. The lived experience is different to the lawful one.
Remember the subject of this post - most of the US population is of immigrant stock.
Whether I experienced bigotry or not has zero bearing on the material facts of the matter...
If you're choosing to be ignorant to the realities of life, I can't help you. Might be worth checking your privilege.
If you're choosing to remain ignorant to the definition of the word "immigrant", I can't help you. Might be worth checking a dictionary.
You could consider checking an encyclopaedia on the matter. I checked the English Wikipedia page on the matter for you. On the literal 2nd paragraph, they talk about second-generation immigrants.
My point is that you seem too stubborn to accept any use of the word apart from that of a dictionary. But I think we can all agree that language contains more than can fit in a dictionary. Therefore, you should acknowledge uses outside those found in a dictionary, like the use described in most encyclopaedias - I must image - on the matter.
Also I find your comment rude, which is just double annoying when you furthermore seem misinformed on the matter.
Second generation immigrants are not immigrants, they're the children of immigrants. So you're simply looking at the wrong terms in the encyclopedia. Trump is not a second, third, fourth, or fifth generation immigrant so that's a moot point anyway.
Words have meaning and if you go around ascribing them willy nilly to whatever and whoever you want, that word then has no meaning. Obscuring the meaning of words is a popular strategy of manipulation and disinformation. The definition of words are important. That's why dictionaries exist.
I'd suggest you scroll up, take a closer look, and ask yourself who was rude first.
An immigrant and being thought of as an immigrant are different things. Law and how it is applied are not the same. If you live only by formal definition of words, you must be incredibly autistic.
If you don't realise the US is a country of immigrants, you don't even understand your own history - and certainly haven't read/understood the words written in The New Colossus. Fuck me, I'm not even from there and I understand your history better than you seem to be showing. I know the US education system is useless (except in teaching how to survive school shootings), but you're not exactly helping beat the stereotype.
Yes, only autists care about using words in a commonly-understood manner! What a fool I've been!
Gbye
They said after unironically refusing to use our preferred demonym. We're Americans, not USians. Do you call Spaniards Kingdomians? It's the "Kingdom of Spain" after all.
Canadians are Americans too, as are Colombians. And Brazilians. And Mexicans. You are (United States of) Americans. That is too long, so USians - think about others on your continent and don't prove yourself an ignoramus.
Not doing a good job of dispelling the "selfish and superiority complex" things I mentioned in my first post. There's a reason "US Defaultism" is a meme and you're proving it right there.
Nobody's ever actually been confused by that because there's almost never a reason to refer to all denizens of North and South America. You just want a socially accepted way to be hateful.
Honestly he's not that inaccurate of a representation.
Yeah America is highly diverse. He represents the worst of us and that was ascendant over the last ten years.
Those of us that aren’t that need to get louder and take power to get this ship back on track.
This bullshit is a result of the 'Murican people
Over generations, the apathy and selfishness meant this cancerous shit grew stronger
' Murica was founded in hate, genocide, stupidity and greed, and not a fucking thing changed in a couple of hundred years except for the efficiency of the machine
