One of my teachers in a humanities related field said she had a dream where people were running through the street and making tons of noise at like 2 am that woke her up, and they were just screaming “HE’S DEAD! HE’S DEAD!!”
So that’s how people in the humanities are doing, if anyone was curious.
I excitedly launch my news app every time I hear anything that might be gunshots or fireworks. I have an $80 bottle of bourbon on deck.
I might actually relapse that day- not fully, just with a glass or two of champagne. I think that's a celebration worthy of a drink despite the eight years of sobriety.
There are good sparkling NA options so you can have a special, celebratory drink without breaking the streak. Also, congrats on 8 years!
Cheers mate, thank you. I definitely enjoy those options from time to time and will likely stick with them. I don't think I could sacrifice the best thing I've ever done for myself, even in celebration of the planet being a bit lighter.
Nah, man, ain't nothing worth relapsing. My brother is a drunk, and has never tried to seriously get sober to my knowledge. If he ever did, I wouldn't encourage him to drink under any circumstances. It's a slippery slope for people who have a problem with alcohol.
Ha! Was gonna post the same, 7 yrs now, but dang, might need to hoist a glass on that merry day!
He's really not worth it... and that's coming from another who understands the good fight.
Maybe another cheap(ish) thrill of a lottery ticket? Or get your adrenalin going another way, such as with a bike ride, or a bush walk 🤷♂️ just thinking out loud, hopefully that's okay.
I think thats pretty much everyone in every discipline, not just the humanities folks.
We all deal with trauma differently
Trump being dead wouldn't solve anything. He's demented puppet of a rotten system which won't change just because a the puppet breaks.
It would solve one thing at the very least.
Brands need their mascots.
I think every option other than Trump is better than him simply because the popular mandate can't be had by a freak like Miller, it can't be had by a rizzless baffoon like Vance, a stuffy devil in a suit like Vought, a sniveling gremlin pedophile like Lutnick, or a out and about Jewish Supremacist like Kushner. The only person I worry about being in charge is Tucker Carlson. Given how the world only ever seems to get worse, I think this would be the end result. Most of my predictions are true by imaging the worst possible scenario. The only upsides to him is that he's made a lot of enemies, but I think he's demonstrated his ability to lie his way into power and I don't think that would be a saving grace for us at all, we'd probably be fucked, and he's definitely smart enough and charismatic enough to achieve most of his white supremacist goals. The best case scenario is Trump having a stroke while complaining about Tucker being a traitor.
I understand the argument, but I'm not sure if this circus of wacky sock puppets isn't primarily meant to distract us from the things that really matter right now, because we get so worked up every day over the nonsense coming out of the current administration.
I dunno, GoP all feel like they want to kill him but have no better alternative so keep him around
They might implode into infighting if he dies
I agree
He's a symptom of how fucked 'Murica is
But, I'll still celebrate it
