He does realize he is still president after this election does he not?

[–] StabbingSky@lemmy.zip 56 points 4 days ago (6 children)

If enough Democrats win, they can push legislation through without him being able to block it.

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 31 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Ohh for sure, maybe even impeach, but the headline implies something else entirely though…wonder if he would flee to russia lol

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 49 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He's fear mongering his moronic racist pedophile base

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 18 points 4 days ago

Yah 10-4, sometimes the simplest explanation is correct.

[–] Skyrmir@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It's entirely possible he could flee given the investigations he's about to face. He knows what happens to pedophile in prison. And while his legal team, even though inept, will keep him from ever seeing the inside of a prison. That fear would be enough to make him flee.

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 8 points 4 days ago

Yah he certainly has amassed enough money…it would likely be argentina or some other warmer country…but who knows what will happen. Ive already voted but I bet something happens and the whole thing gets rigged

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Well, Qatar gave him a plane, and word was a few months ago that Qatar is where the Venezuelan oil money is, in an account that only he controls. That's just one link but there are dozens, including an inquiry from the House Foreign Affairs Committee about the matter.

One might almost conclude he doesn't intend to stay in the US post-presidency.

Waiting for the dems to save us is going to be a long wait.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 days ago

the odds of democrats sweeping the upcoming senate elections, including every single one of the twenty-two republican-held seats, is as close to zero as you can get without actually being zero.

then on top of that, you have 'unreliable' ""democrats"" holding office which you can't count on to vote with their party of record.

so the net chance of the upcoming senate session being able to override a veto is zero. not gonna happen. hell, the democrats would be extremely lucky to hit 60 seats.

over on the house side, democrats might get a 5-10 seat advantage, they'll never get the veto-proof majority there either. way too much rigging of the vote and maps by republicants for that.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Nope, not this cycle. They’d have to win every single Senate race, which would put them at 67. Or as my math works, 66 + Fetterman.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Are enough Republican seats (that are likely to flip) even up for election to do that this midterm? I seem to remember that being a problem in 2018, that there was backlash but not enough Republicans up for election to make much headway.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Technically yes, but highly unlikely. Every single seat has to go D, no exceptions, and the resulting 67 seats would still include the bald imbecile from Pennsylvania.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 1 points 3 days ago

LMAO… no they won’t.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

who do you think is gonna order the burning?

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 8 points 4 days ago

Stephen Miller?

[–] Seaguy05@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think it's because he's going to try and burn everything down then he and his "donors" will buy everything up. Then Democrats will be blamed and 2028 comes around and the GOP gains power again. Rinse repeat.

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yah but I thought that was a four year cycle, are we accelerating to the two year cycle now lol. Damn republicans are dumb.

[–] Seaguy05@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Musk is ready to burn $200+ million every two years to make sure he stays the wealthiest person in the world. I can picture the headlines now.. " Republicans promised you $5000 checks, once the dumocrates took over they took it away. If we had a Republican Congress, everything would have been different, pinky promise. This 2028 election year correct the midterm mistake and elect true Republicans." This ad was brought to you by spacexai ad agency.

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 3 points 4 days ago

Oh yah for sure and trump just boasted hes already spent $400m to prop up other republicans. They are very nervous or perhaps this has always been the republican spending norm and we are just hearing about it more because we have a bunch of megalomaniacs with megaphones

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

That senile cunt doesn't know what decade it is, or who shit in his pants

[–] Doom@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He'll be the lamest of lame ducks and he knows it.

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Honestly best case scenario considering some of the other alternatives

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Idk, with nothing to lose and a deranged obsession with getting as much attention as possible, there's a lot more damage that he can do.

[–] arctanthrope@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

someone should tell him that if he blew his brains out on live TV it would get the highest ratings ever

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

I'd watch. Hell, I'd pay. Is PPV still a thing?

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 2 points 4 days ago

Yah a whole lot of possibilities, some of them probably pretty dark considering the people in his administration, like miller.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Maybe? I mean for one he won't enjoy the level of "do-whatever-the-fuck-I-want" he has thus far. For another (less likely), he could be impeached and not be President anymore.

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 2 points 3 days ago

Yah a congress that represents the people actually representing the people would be a great first step to restoring order.
