I hate Elon as much as the next Lemmite, but how about we blame the driver who fell asleep, and not the car this time?
Complain about tesla drivers -> "how about holding the rich responsible instead of regular people"
Complain about tesla -> "the drivers were clearly not using them properly we should blame them"
No because we have always known people are idiots and what responsible engineers and policy makers should be doing is demanding the idiots who buy these are hit over the head over and over again with the idea that these are INCAPABLE of driving themselves, this should be established as firmly "driving assist".
This is basic safety culture stuff, and safety culture always begins with letting go of our natural obsession with turning safety into something that we extend to virtuous people only.
