Big brain tech dude got yet another clueless take over at HackerNews etc? Here's the place to vent. Orange site, VC foolishness, all welcome.

I do play quite a few games (and own a lot more), but the closest I got to the epic launcher is this popup after I got the free games out of FOMO.

And no, it isn't installed. So any slop improvements on speed don't matter to me at all. Odd how Steam doesn't have to beg me to ask if the launcher is installed (nor does it need some weird popup to check how many people have installed it).

Image description.A popup asking if the launcher is installed. With buttons to click if it is installed, and help you download it if it isn't.

@Soyweiser @dgerard him, Steam does the same if I buy stuff in a browser ...

Why buy stuff in the browser when the launcher is already open and running?

[–] kgMadee2@mathstodon.xyz 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

@Soyweiser because Firefox is about 2000% faster than the embedded chromium, and because links open in the browser, so why switch

No you are missing my point. Steam launcher is open. Epic isnt even installed.

Im not talking about browser vs app. Im talking about epic vs steam.

@Soyweiser yeah no, I don't have the Epic launcher either, being on Linux and I don't trust this glob of slop 😁
