https://freesewing.eu/designs/hi/ you could also make your own out of whatever material you like, without giving money to billionaires
Nice. This is really cool. I didn't know this existed. The examples of the custom blahajes look really fun.
It's great that anyone can make a blahaj if they know how to sew well enough to do so. Despite being supposedly socialized to know how to sew, it never took, I can't sew, so I'm afraid I won't be making my own blahaj. :(
As far as giving money to billionaires, you will still have to buy fabric and materials, but I imagine it is technically possible to source those from a local craftsperson. I'm not sure how many people will do this, but I'm sure it is technically possible.
It's a great reason to learn to sew. And if you want to make it even more subversive (self reliance is resistance to oppression) you invite a couple people and make a sewing group to learn from and with eachother, pool tools/resources, as well as strengthen your community in preparation for what may come.
Again, I was taught to sew. No amount of teaching me to sew or me trying to learn to sew resulted in me knowing how to sew. I've also been in a sewing circle before. It just wasn't my thing. Great idea for someone else, though.
And so you will remain reliant on the benevolence of IKEA and Shenzen.
Well, at least China is pretty good at auditing their billionaires and forcing them to flee to Japan.
What you're saying isn't true, though. If enough people make their own blahajes, I can buy one from them.
