Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

(Sorry for the mixed measurements - I had a bunch of egg white so had to weigh out 1 egg worth)

35 grams egg white

1 Tbsp guava jelly or guava paste

1 oz good mezcal

1/2 oz over proof reposado tequila

1/2 oz Aperol

3/4 oz lemon juice

ETA I failed to list one step. First: whisk or muddle the jelly and booze to incorporate it.

Shake without ice, then with ice. Just as good as it sounds and so beautiful.

Oh, shit! I hope you are feeling better!

This is maybe good info for those of us who use egg whites now and then...so the egg white really only produced this small amount of foam? (I was half expecting you would say the rest of the foam just didn't fit in the glass or something.) If so, I will know to toss it out if I ever have an egg white not foam up.

I think I've only ever used a fresh egg white. I do sometimes save one from something in the fridge for a few days with the intention to use it in a cocktail. I never remember to use them tho. Maybe my ADHD has saved me.
