The core of the story has to be technology focused.
- If article mentions "AI" in a sentence and then talks about business economics that doesn't make it tech news.
- Gaming is too many layers removed from technology. There are many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
- Transporation is too many layers removed from technology. EVs while use many cool technologies have many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
- Entertainment is too many layers removed from technology. While sometimes it can fit here, business or cultural aspects of it are a better fit for dedicated communities.
- Cybersecurity. While it heavily focuses on technology, most of the time it's too technical for most people who are not already invested in it. Should be posted in a dedicated communities unless it has broader connection to other tech areas.
Post guidelines
Title format
Post title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
URL format
Post URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefix
Opinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.
Country prefix
Country prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

They gonna take away the ridiculous keyboard copilot key requirement?
IIRC you can't even remap that thing right? It might be cool if you could launch a local model with it but fuck having to use microslop's trash
You can. Sort of. On newer laptops, it registers as F23, which can be remapped, and on older laptops it registers as the key shortcut Win+Shift+F23, which can only be hijacked.
Even with this, though, the addition of this stupid copilot key, especially by taking away a Ctrl key, is absolutely wanker and I despise it.
I just disabled it completely since I really only use left ctrl.
My acer "nitrosense" key got hijacked to launch other things as well. Just about any custom slop on laptops can be reworked when you realize that they really don't spend much money on the software side of those fancy buttons.
What is cool though, is that I got a super cheap laptop that was heavily subsidized by MS in the early AI push. The NPU the laptop came with had its drivers deleted and the bloat spyware acer nitrosense shit turned off shortly after. (Reworking the fan and LED controls wasn't too hard, but it took a while.) They absolutely lost money on me, so that is nice.
The lesson here is that cheap laptops are designed to incur long term costs, or in the case of the Acer laptop I got, it was probably designed to self-destruct via its original power profiles. Magically, once I killed the beacons back to acers CMS and "warranty tracking" endpoints, the fans magically started working correctly. (The bearer tokens were hard-coded, so I spent a day or so injecting random telemetry data with nasty notes "from noth korea" about the executives mothers from every model of laptop the json templates had.)
