A place to share screenshots of Microblog posts, whether from Mastodon, tumblr, ~~Twitter~~ X, KBin, Threads or elsewhere.
Created as an evolution of White People Twitter and other tweet-capture subreddits.
RULES:
- Your post must be a screen capture of a microblog-type post that includes the UI of the site it came from, preferably also including the avatar and username of the original poster. Including relevant comments made to the original post is encouraged.
- Your post, included comments, or your title/comment should include some kind of commentary or remark on the subject of the screen capture. Your title must include at least one word relevant to your post.
- You are encouraged to provide a link back to the source of your screen capture in the body of your post.
- Current politics and news are allowed, but discouraged. There MUST be some kind of human commentary/reaction included (either by the original poster or you). Just news articles or headlines will be deleted.
- Doctored posts/images and AI are allowed, but discouraged. You MUST indicate this in your post (even if you didn't originally know). If an image is found to be fabricated or edited in any way and it is not properly labeled, it will be deleted.
- Absolutely no NSFL content.
- Be nice. Don't take anything personally. Take political debates to the appropriate communities. Take personal disagreements & arguments to private messages.
- No advertising, brand promotion, or guerrilla marketing.

LOL, just turning on Windows will blow that up. Then, opening Chrome... LMAO. Can you even run on 4GB of RAM anymore? Like, Raspberry Pis have over 4GB now.
OS developers should be banned from having more than 2GiB of RAM too.
You absolutely can. I have Linux with Hyprland and it is less than 2gb doing nothing. You can probably run ARM boards and do the same. I think with browser it is still less than 4Gb. Your system just needs to be free of corporate garbage.
I guess if you're running 32-bit, but in 64-bit land the word size is double so it'll barebones run on double the 32-bit system (at minimum). Once you open a modern browser, it opens like 6 tabs (with a blank tab); there are background tabs. Pictures and active media consume a large amount of bandwidth and memory, which is a con against the modern web. I guess we should go back to BBSs.
I also don't run "corporate garbage." I use FOSS exclusively. But Windows, and its svchost'd jobs, eats over 2GiB ram idling.
I have a console window open on my debian desktop that is eating 5.1gb.
That's almost all just text in the tabs.
Stuff also just takes a lot of memory.
Right, but the browser hasn't opened any web pages yet and you have not started your IDE (for example, Rust Analyzer takes a massive amount of RAM) and so on.
I think 8GB is probably a little bit more realistic, workable with, but likely still a lot of pain...
I generally support the sentiment. Though here I am with 64GB and it's still often swapping. (I'm already running optimized Linux)
Up until very recently (its system drive blew up) I was running a server (raspberry pi zero 2 w) with 512MB of RAM. It werked fine. At any moment I had ~1/4 of the RAM free. And I was running a bunch of services, like ssh, unbound, pi-hole, opentracker and a test website.
I also have another machine with 2GB of RAM running bookstack, an ssh gateway, opentracker, a KMS for activating windows machines, another website, naemon with the thruk frontend and probably something else I'm forgetting abt.
