World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

They would be horrified that there are bell ends like you cropping up again in their own country. Seriously.
Let’s hear from a primary source: https://youtu.be/c2LTcqnFXY0
I’m not British, I’m Belgian. And when i remember my grandfather, he’d be horrified by the current society.
Frankly the only ant-immigrant parties left are the far fight fascists, and I understand you associate me with them. But that’s not at all representative of. I want the political landscape to be like Denmark.
Respect for people, freedom, laws, the press…, still hard on illegal immigration. I really hate that the only people standing against unlimited immigration are the pro-Russian mega corrupt far-right.
Hey, while you seem cool with making bad choices on the Internet today, let me help you make just one fewer faux pas:
In your YouTube link, you see that string that begins with
?is=? That's a referral identifier so that Google can track who watched a video based on whose referral. The fact that this code can be internally associated with your Gmail account means that a third party has the potential to relate your Lemmy account to your Gmail account. While you're not full-on doxxing yourself, you're still inviting a potential invasion of your privacy. So, swap your YouTube link with this cleaned link
https://youtu.be/c2LTcqnFXY0, and good luck with the xenophobia.Of course you're not, hardly any of the terminally online fuckwits obsessed with our politics are.
Maybe ask yourself WHY it's only the far right parties that are anti-immigrant and blaming all society's ills on immigrants? Have a little think about that, and about what happened in the lead up to WW2. See if you can spot any similarities between those people who's policies you support and the people your grandfather and my father fought against.
Illegal immigration is an issue but it's nowhere near the cause of society's ills. Just thought it was worth putting that out there.
If anything, it's just a symptom.
Speaking as someone who lives in Denmark and have for my entire life: no you don't.
It's become increasingly full of demagogic nonsense ever since the Fogh campaign introduced spin doctors in 2000.
I guess that IS what you like, though, based on your jingoistic catchphrases below..
Translation: xenophobic and needlessly cruel
Translation: not forcing people to suffer and die for being born on the wrong side of arbitrary lines on a map
They wouldn't leave their homes [edit: in the numbers racists complain about], if their countries were fine. And their countries aren't fine as a result of decades, if not centuries, of exploitation and political and economic meddling/espionage from the West/"global north".
That is also true, yes.
Even if their countries WERE fine, though, it should be none of our concern whether they prefer to live in ours.
Since they're not, though, letting them live in peace here is the LEAST we can do to make up for our imperialist past and present!
Have you seen what's been happening across the pond?
