What's sad is they think they can live in some isolated place, but they need enough people to not have genetic issues. Probably don't plan on surviving past themselves, consistent with their lives.

2014 research (Frankham et al.) revised the short-term threshold upward to Nₑ ≥ 100, implying a minimum of ~500–1,000 actual individuals to keep inbreeding depression below 10% over five generations.
