Worst, most annoying trope that exists on the fediverse. The USA has a lot further to fall before we're on par with China's human rights record.
I'm Chinese and I also live in the US.
If one does not like being compared to China, perhaps one's government should not act comparably to China.

I feel like that's not a big ask for a country that's actively trying to cut the cords of its own parachute.

I really dislike the China/Russia glazing tankies here, but saying anyone can beat us is a baffling claim. Our war crimes abroad could rival every other country put together.
Even if you're just talking domestically that's a bold claim. For every Tiananmen massacre we've got a few Tulsa Race Massacres to pick from. For every Uyghur Genocide we've got a few Trail of Tears.
If you're limiting it to just domestically and recently our unconstitutional CIA programs on US citizens, private prison collusion with judges, and escalating ICE detentions could easily match the oppression of Hong Kong, Tibet, etc.
That's not to minimize the suffering China causes, but acting like we haven't spent 250 years perfecting the game is crazy to me. Have some shame like the rest of us.
You're gonna have to add some qualifiers about the time period to make that true.
Sorry fediverse hurt your feelings. Reality doesn't change, just because you call it a "trope" tho.
War criminals have been running USA for decades. Come back when they are held accountable to talk about human rights.
