Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

So I made this. (anarchaos.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com)

After people reacted so positively to the banner I made I had the idea to do the same with c/anarchism. But what to draw? Well I took the existing image and traced over it, adding some more character.

License (as always): CC-0, no rights reserved. Especially since it's traced over a generated image.

Still not theft. Merely copyright infringement at best.

Oh, "merely." I'm sure all the artists who weren't given the opportunity to opt out and are currently having their work reproduced at scale feel so much better about that legal distinction.

Yep, I'm aware. And just like anarchy, I don't agree that piracy should be applied without exception. Stealing from the common person ≠ stealing from billionaires or mega corporations.

I know there are some pirates who do not make such exceptions, but I think they're wrong, and their behavior is indistinguishable from corporations'.

Stealing from artists is stealing from the poor class, whether that's intentional copyright infringement (especially since AI companies know artists rarely have the money to fight back) or total theft. And the wealthy are more than happy to see us do their dirty work by hurting each other.

Again, copying isn't stealing.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If it's to reproduce it at scale, yes it is.

You can't just redefine words to fit your sensibilities

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Neither can you. Copying someone's copywritten work is IP theft; in actuality, it's not just stealing the work but the artistic style of artists, which is far worse.

And since you seem intent on hanging your argument on copying, here's evidence that copyright infringement is a form of IP Theft:

Continuing to act like GenAI, specifically its current iteration and regarding who controls it, isn't a theft and plagiarism machine is just pro-billionaire claptrap. That's not an anarchist stance, that's being distracted by an oligarch's shiny, dangling keys.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's just copyright infringement. "ip theft" isn't a thing. Ergo It's not stealing, it's violating copyrights which is a shit law nobody should respect.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Cool, so you're fine stealing art from artists (or infringing the rights of artists, as you seem to prefer), and you're fine if billionaires steal art in support of capitalism. Got it. I agree the law is stupid, but stealing from artists isn't the correct way to fix it.

And again, because this is an Anarchy community: that's not anarchist thinking, that's capitalist thinking, and quite privileged at that.

It would be great if we could make a practical distinction between personal and private property, but until we deal with the powers at the top, the artists at the bottom with the rest of us still need to eat in the meantime in this abusive system.

I don't support corporations whatsoever but the kind of uses I promote for piracy and genai don't harm artists.

I also don't steal, nor violate their "rights" since they're coming from an unjust law. I am merely providing a space for like minded people to talk about genai and share their creations made for personal gratification.
