I may be missing something. Isn't the joke that it's a company run by Jewish people that escaped Nazi Germany only to return when the threat subsided?

It's quite rare for jews to return to Germany after WW2; AFAIK the vast majority of jews in today's Germany are post-WW2 immigrants from eastern europe.

Pretty sure the joke is that the company got taken over by a Nazi. The original owners would have been lucky to escape with their lives.
