America is such a f-ed up country. Why would any one have a tendency to run over snowman’s?

Good job wrecking those idiots cars

To protect against liability, put up a sign near it that says: "WARNING: DO NOT RUN OVER SNOWMAN"

Ironically enough, this will probably get even more fuckers trying to run over it. Both because some of them are perversely motivated to disobey such a warning, and because some of them wouldn't have thought about doing so until they saw the warning not to.

So you know how those BEWARE OF DOG signs land you in trouble? Because they can be used to argue you know the dog is dangerous. So you should just use a sign that says DOG ON PREMISES or has a picture of a dog.

Likewise, a sign saying PLEASE STOP HITTING THE SNOWMEN implies something different than WARNING: DO NOT THE SNOW GOONS

Very little to do in small towns leads to a lot of dumb ways to entertain oneself. I grew up in a rural area and mailbox baseball was a thing.

I grew up in a rural area and mailbox baseball was a thing.

And I had one neighbor who got fed up with it. Next time he had to replace his mailbox, he hired a welder to make one out of very thick steel, so it would look normal from the outside, but be strong enough to be basically bulletproof. A few weeks later, there was a string of destroyed mailboxes, and then his as the only one left intact ... with remnants of a broken baseball bat on the ground around it. Glorious -- and the neighborhood didn't have any more mailbox problems for years after that.

The competition between arms and armour has been going on since time immemorial!

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

there was a trend of people building mailboxes out of brick in the 90s-00s where we lived. People were sick of idiots.

Dude just hang out at the Walmart at that point

Not when there’s commercial refrigerators with Freon to huff!

I don't know about other people, but I myself would like to one day build a snowman and run it over. Something about driving through a snow pile and making it "explode" just sits right with me. Would never run someone else's snowman over though, as they built it for their own reasons.

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 6 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Harder these days when cars have so much plastic in them. Even hitting a snowman could cost a lot in repairs.

[–] Azteh@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Unfortunately that is very true

Depending on how heavy the snow is, that could leave a hell of a dent

[–] TAG@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

It is not that common. I have never seen a snowman that looked run over.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago

I can't prove this, but I'd wager all my money it's people with red hats doing it. There's something wrong with their brains.

That's nothing compared to their tendency to goto a school and shoot children. Even the crazy people in other places don't think that. Children are children.
