In addition to this, since yesterday old.reddit needs a log in, since this evening the standard reddit also nags (via pop up) for an account when I open a thread via google.

There are multiple instances to choose from for redlib. There's a way to load your subscriptions but I can't be arsed. I just scroll through the top of it.
i saw someone use continium app for mobile, only nitpick is it doesnt collapse the post neatly enough like fully compact.
Catsarch is the best redlib instance I've come across. Don't forget about LibRedirect
they seem to roll out in different regions slowly, more than likely gauging users backlash, and the attempt to hide the popup. Also google seem to have required phone verfication for accounts, and limit the accounts per phone. likely trying with reddit to force the use of more phones?
