For decades, laws have always taken a few years to kick in. Trump isn't the Republican first to take credit for a Democrat president policy.

Oh and half the time these laws don't actually need to take that long to kick in. Many could be instant, but just aren't for no reason.

Republicans also famously break things on their way out so they can blame the consequences on their successors. Like how trump committed the US military to pulling out of Afghanistan with no plan in place.

Or Trump's first round of tax cuts (for normal people) expired in 2025.

A lot of laws require time to get things set up. Usually the delay is to allow all parties to get ready for the law to take full effect or even to allow some time for the legal system to iron out any potential kinks.

I'd much rather have laws take a little time to come into full effect than whiplash of a law changing in flight. Just look at the tariffs as an example of the mess that can cause.

That why I said half the time. There are many laws that don't require set, but still take time because fuck the American people.
