It can do that if you learn how to use prayer as a source of inner peace and fearlessness. It doesn't matter at all who or what you pray to - you could also see it as a more personalized technique of meditation if the religious aspect puts you off.

it's a form of meditation in many religions.

They probably just mentioned that to highlight that she was an incredibly mindful and regimented person, drawing contrast with the "watching your parents doomscroll" imagery.
