I think Germany/EU should grant all non-spy russians asylum, because those who leave are the good russians. They are the ones who don't support putin and don't attack Ukraine. Imagine it's war and nobody shows up.

Those who leave still often keep russian citizenship and pay putin taxes. Or send money to their friends/relatives in russia, who then spend it and pay putin taxes.

Them running away doesn't necessarily mean they were against the war from the start. They might just be afraid of dieng.

The saying "better late than never" is also a thing in Germany.

I think, being scared to be sacrificed or killed by a government one once supported, is a teachable moment and they shall have a chance to tell the tale, teach others and redeem themselves.

Every able body that runs is one less Ukrainian soldiers have to use a bullet on. It's pragmatic to accept Russian deserters.

I think they should grant asylum to people with legitimate asylum claims.

Some "non-spy Russians" have legitimate asylum claims. Some do not.

There should be a questionnaire:

  • Are you, or have you ever been a member of a Russian or Soviet Intelligence agency?

If you answer no, you're good.
