Because they're largely harmless. Being a stimulant isn't bad, there's nothing insane about that.
Also, caffeine addiction is relatively easy to overcome. Nicotine addiction isn't and tobacco, its main source, contains tons of other crap, which is why governments have been running anti-smoking campaigns for decades but keep their actions against caffeine to "don't give energy drinks to minors" and "please don't sell premixed alcoholic caffeinated beverages".
While true, the person you replied to isn't completely wrong. When I first got my ADHD medication I had to leave out all stimulants to see how the medication works. I had the most brutal headache and no amount of ibuprofen worked. I had to reduce the caffeine intake gradually to be able to function again.
Weed definitely is addictive. I function way better without it, but it's just too good to leave out.
They are completely wrong because they're saying it's insane that caffeine and nicotine are legal, they blew right past the reasonable nuance.
Lol, guess my ADHD skipped that part. But let's be honest, nicotine being legal is kinda shit. It's literally a neurotoxin.
