This just falls into the standard conservative "if it didn't happen to me or an immediate family member I cared about, then it doesn't exist" bucket. I saw a meme recently about this where it said the same thing except about your weird uncle who was super into model trains.
These are the same people who'd send family members for lobotomies or to an asylum and pretend they didn't exist, because 'they were different'.
People don’t even have to be conservative to think this way.
Very true, but let's be honest. The venn diagram is approaching a circle.
I don't know anyone with cancer. Therefore cancer is a fake disease and is a scam.
I often use a sub to identify people I should block.
But, as you just pointed out, sometimes it’s useful for finding people that I should try to understand.
