They are really aiming at the dumbest ones. Who does believe such blatant tales?
The only people who believe it are just looking for a reason. Being a stupid reason works for them, because it pisses off their opposition for caring about reality.
They see it as a double win: no need to think about it, and the people they hate are upset.
