The funny thing is that "Omelette du fromage" isn't even correct. It means "The cheese's omelet".

If you want to say "Cheese omelet" you should say "Omelette au fromage"

When I used to play games online on English speaking servers, and French players would only write in French and people would be complaining, all it took was to write Omelette du fromage for them to quickly switch to English to explain how it's wrong.

the old "ill just butcher the language" makes english speakers of us all.

I once tried chatting in Spanish on a Minecraft server and they bullied me for not knowing how to add accents and the ñ on my keyboard.

They’d have found another reason. No matter the language, every kid’s fluent in asshole.

What if I just wanted more cheese than egg.

Like when you ask how much parm to mix with egg in a cabanara, and the answer many shaped men like myself answer is until I can't afford it. (Which is the #1 reason I don't make carbanara more)

Anyways, if it's got more cheese then egg... Maybe it is the cheeses omlet

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Trust me, in that context it's a possessive. As if the cheese could own the omelet.

So is there a French term for carbonara, or do they just say it's the father's sauce so we shall name all others mothers and her children?

What if I just wanted more cheese than egg.

Then we'd jokingly say "fromage à l'omelette".

Fine fine, can you just convince your people and Spain to come to our aid again, lol

[–] loutr@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago
