Otherwise, he’s a no call no show for work. He’s fired.

I'm sorry, but that's simply not how elected office works

Fucking should be

But it is. It's their job. They aren't doing it. Their fired.

How things have been done in the past is irrelevant. Moving forward, this is how things will be done. At least in this situation.

If Mitch doesn't like it, he can file a lawsuit, show up in court, and go thru a trial like everyone else would. If he wins he can have his job back. But he's fucking dead so it's a moot point.

A thousand employment law firms absolutely salivating to hear what business you administer, if you're firing your employees because they landed in the hospital for a month.

Did he have FMLA? Where's his doctor's note on if/when he can return? There are currently businesses in the US that don't even let employees call in when they have the flu.

Politicians are public property. If they break, replace them with a functioning one.

The fact that there's no doctors note is pretty telling. I think it means there's no doctor willing to risk their medical license to lie for McConnell's lackeys

According to who? Sounds made up to me.

Most of our government runs on good faith, and the 'rules' don't actually exist. And if they do, who fucking cares? Andy is in charge of the state. He makes the rules. Period.

Just for starters...

The FMLA protects leave for:

  • A serious health condition that makes the employee unable to work

You would really like to think that folks in /c/ProgressivePolitics are familiar with the most basic workplace protections afforded sick or injured workers.

Please, if FMLA is the only problem just cut him a check for the wages and the benefits he would've been entitled to and fire his ass. Worse things happen to better people all the time in this country.
