Big purchases this year though: Apple Watch, treadmill, and 2 AC units (not shown here because it was in July).

They have 2 roommates. So the total cost is 2,775 for the rental. If we assume 3 bedrooms that's average outside of the major metros.

Roommates are spouse and children and they don't pay nuthin towards rent.
