Any experience with renting carpet cleaner machine? (feddit.nl)

Thinking about to cleaning the carpet this summer but unsure renting a carpet cleaning machine is the way to go or I should just get a machine. Anyone has tried renting one and would you recommend the store your rented it from?

Everyone is mentioning Safeway, but I've rented/seen them in a variety of larger grocery stores. Might be worth checking other chains too if they are more convenient.
