One of the creepiest-looking animals I've ever run across while out on the trails photographing has to be this--oh wait...no, it's just a picture of a very normal- looking swimming beaver turned sideways. ๐
Have to admit though it creates a strange face with that reflection and rotated...sorry* for any nightmare fuel.

Good call on the forward eyes. I think I'm throwing off by the lack of eyelashes. Eyes are def uncanny in the originally presented version.
I'm very glad to only encounter this beast online and not irl.
