Earth will bounce back without us around being all virus-like.
Sure eventually. That doesn't mean 80% of biodiversity has to die to increase shareholder value though
Viruses, famous for never killing their host.
The earth wouldn't care if it was a barren rock devoid of life. We aren't going extinct more easily than every other large mammal on earth, so "bouncing back eventually" misses how horrifying it would be. I'm tired of people pretending like extinction is inevitable, or even the worst fate that might await us. I'm not scared of extinction; I'm scared of us facing hopeless lives of full of suffering only to die painful deaths.
Yep, you got it. But this wasn’t a post about how much life will suffer on earth as a result of humans. That is, as you say, quite terrifying.
Maybe we should all come together and do something about it.
