Any experience with renting carpet cleaner machine? (feddit.nl)

Thinking about to cleaning the carpet this summer but unsure renting a carpet cleaning machine is the way to go or I should just get a machine. Anyone has tried renting one and would you recommend the store your rented it from?

Will check out Safeway and home Depot. Hopefully it won't be too much more in Canada. Thanks!
