How can he be a business owner AND a politician? That's a clear conflict of interest.

How can he be a business owner AND a politician?

Because voters trust him.

The real question is why do they trust him?

they don't - it's not about trust, it's just spitefully gravitating to whatever "makes liberal heads explode".

They probably trust him because their livelihoods are tied to coal, the same as him. He probably makes bold statements about keeping coal flowing and jobs going.

Everyone loves a captive audience

That’s a clear conflict of interest.

I'll give you one guess as to which party he's a member of and how little they care about conflicts of interest.

Hint: It's the party currently directly violating our Constitution by allowing the president to violate the Emoluments Clause.

Reminder: They are only able to do this because voters keep giving them power, despite constantly providing us reasons why we shouldn't.

That and non voters refuse to do anything to curb this too.

Because we can trust them to run the country like a business: straight into the ground.

bad people made the wrong moral choice voluntarily to give him power
