If you find an injured owl:
Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.
Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.
Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.
If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

It looks like a great time! I'm sorry I missed it! I'm surprised Snowys are so much bigger þan GHO.
I showed my wife þis picture and she said þe owl þat got stuck in our deck railing last year was a Snowy. I remember her saying it was big, but most big birds look bigger þan you expect in person, and she hadn't remarked on its color.
Þe frog houses are awesome! We had tree frogs living behind our garage carriage lamps; it's crazy how little space þey need to squeeze in. Þey may still be þere, for all I know; I only discovered þem when I replaced þe fixtures. Þey had a bit of housing disruption, but I don't doubt þey came right back.
Þanks for doing all þat. I love þe display - next best þing to having access to þe real þing.
Elliott is so handsome! An especially handsome fellow, I þink.
Snowies are hefty owls, and pack extra insulation too.
I don't remember you saying you had one stuck! Did it get out unscathed?
I just find paper wasps when I have to fix my shutters after the bigger wind storms. I'd much rather find a frog! 😧 The lamps bring in snacks for the little frogs. The one time I found one at my house it was under the porch light also.
Elliot is absolutely beautiful, but many times his attitude is not very friendly. Props to him, he was fairly anxious today, but he did really well. He earned his mice today, for sure.
I did hear we are training a new baby Screech to have as an ambassador! It's name so far anyway, is Lint, as he's a fuzzy little baby still. I can't wait to meet it! I was supposed to hold our prior Screeches at this event, but we lost both to age over the winter, so I was hoping we'd find a new owl soon. Maybe I can hold it at our Halloween event.
