House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said Democrats will not focus on impeaching President Trump if they regain a majority in the lower chamber after midterm elections.

“I’ve made clear from the very beginning that our top priority is going to be to drive down the high cost of living,” the House minority leader added.

The House minority leader has lauded Democrats’ push for redistricting nationwide in an effort to pick up additional House seats and signaled that the party will advocate more for working-class Americans, after Democrats saw losses from the key demographic in the 2024 election.

You can really see it ramp up in real time. The pro-china, pro-russia shit, the "both sides" shit, the "Dems don't do anything" shit. It's all bad actors making false equivalency arguments. Motherfuckers act like trump take 3 is gonna be better. Fuck off. Vote blue. Period. Call me out if you want, but if you vote red, if you vote third party, you are part of the problem. The system isn't set up for a third party, so if you do that, you only help the party that wouldn't have gotten your vote otherwise. Wish it wasn't that way, but it is, so you gotta go what you gotta do and vote blue, no matter how much you want to be a tankie slut.

You refuse to learn from Mamdani's example lmfao. You literally saw how a progressive candidate was boycotted by his own party (Cuomo running as independent) and still smashed the elections, but you'll claim that the only "electable" candidates are "most lethal army in the world" Harris lmfao.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm not sure what you are saying with this. Mamdani ran as a Democrat. Cuomo switched and ran independant when Mamdani beat him in the primary. So, a Democrat won, instead of a third party. Which is exactly what I said in my post. Am I misreading what you've said?

[–] Riverside@reddthat.com 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

My point is running progressive candidates wins elections, and Democrats would rather have a Republican win than Mamdani as seen by them boycotting mamdani through Cuomo running as independent. The Democrats lost against trump because they'd rather run unelectable candidates and lose than an actually electable progressive and be forced to pass progressive policy

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

This is spot on. It's why they shit on Bernie despite him being way more popular than Hillary. If dems would've let Bernie run I think we avoid a trump presidency altogether.

The biggest class in America is the working class.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The people that were against him are establishment asshats who want to keep the status quo. They didn't want a progressive challenge in the NYC mayoral race. They wanted Cuomo because Cuomo is easy. They aren't representative of the "Blue No Matter Who" voter strategy. People like Schumer, Jeffries, and Jacobs aren't progressive democrats, they are "just let us keep doing what we are doing" democrats.

That being said, I'd take Schumer over Thune any day, and that's a 1:1. You can't say that voting another Thune into power is a better alternative to Schumer no matter how much you dislike him. The "Blue No Matter Who" theory still lines up with reality, especially when you can see the alternative already in power.

[–] Riverside@reddthat.com 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Keep putting excuses, you'll keep losing elections with your wonderful strategy of using Trump as a cudgel to discipline voters concerned with actual policy, worked wonders with Hillary and Harris. Change nothing, what a wonderful political strategy!

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

They aren’t representative of the “Blue No Matter Who” voter strategy.

They are representative of the sort of person who says "vote blue no matter who."

That being said, I’d take Schumer over Thune any day,

And Thune over anyone to Schumer's left.

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works -3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Progressive ran in Minnesota and lost for mayor of Minneapolis.

This whole "progressivism is the silver bullet" is horseshit. This is coming from someone who would like more mamdani candidates but youre a complete fool if you think people like him would win everywhere or win a presidential election by default.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m not sure what you are saying with this. Mamdani ran as a Democrat. Cuomo switched and ran independant when Mamdani beat him in the primary. So, a Democrat won, instead of a third party.

And the "no matter who" wing of the party showed that they're massive hypocrites and tried to sink Mamdani after he won the nomination.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm gonna need some citations on this one.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I'm sure you don't consider Gillibrand's disgusting Islamophobic rant about him to be an example. "No matter who" is only for the left. As soon as the spoiled centrist wing doesn't get 100% of everything they want, which in this case was the sex pest they wanted running New York City into the ground for them, they revert back to "party unity my ass."

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah, Gillibrand was genuinely awful and that was real Islamophobia. That's a legitimate criticism. But Mamdani still won as a Democrat, and that is exactly what I was arguing for. The answer to Gillibrand isn't third parties, it's primarying cunts like Gillibrand. Do you think someone on the right is going to treat Muslim Americans better? Because that's the actual alternative when you don't vote blue.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Isn't that what we're talking about here? It ain't November. Primaries are currently happening. Yet you and your cohorts are mad at people for not supporting establishment Jefferies in this thread.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world -4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just fuck off with your bad faith bullshit. Honestly. I'm done arguing with bots and trolls.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That's the third time that you've gotten pissed off when someone pointed out your goal posts seem to be moving.

Since my previous response was removed by mod, I'll come back with a censor.

Ok, [person lacking education], here's the deal.

When people post memes like this, they spread mistrust in the system. They drive down desire to vote, because people believe that voting doesn't matter. "Oh, why vote for the dems if they aren't going to do what I want them to do?" Because the alternative is EXACTLY WHAT YOU DON'T WANT.

[One who has sexual congress with their own mother], do you think the GOP is going to drive down the cost of living? Because we have a very long and fully documented history that says otherwise.

So your options are

A: Vote Blue and at least maybe the cost of living goes down, or option

B: Don't vote, vote red, or vote third party and you get mecha Hitler.

When people say voting doesn't matter, they are conning you. It does, and it comes in two flavors.

First, during primaries, we get people that don't vote at all, and instead of a solid progressive candidate to replace the old guard, the incumbent just sticks around. This drives down the desire to vote even further because everyone is tired of the incumbent that is now the only choice in the general election.

Second, during the general election, they don't come out to vote and the bad guys win.

Do you see my [sexual congress] frustration yet? Are you [sexual congress] getting it? Or are you going to accuse me of moving the [sexual congress] goal posts again? Jesus [sexual congress] Christ, no one thinks more than three hours into the [sexual congress] future. VOTE [sexual congress] BLUE, NO MATTER WHO.

If it isn't your candidate, well, tough [fecal matter]. It's better than a [sexual congress] NAZI, so just eat [fecal matter] and vote. Next time work at the local level, talk to your peers, and try to generate turn-out instead of posting "both sides" memes and talking about how voting doesn't matter. You bet your sweet [mammary glands] it does, Trump is evidence of that. Voting mattered to a lot of people that put that pedophile into office. Just because it didn't go your way doesn't mean it didn't work. I just means [fecal matter] like this [sexual congress] meme are a very potent anti-blue measure.

So, first and foremost, VOTE. In a very, very close second, VOTE BLUE. When [bad people] like OP post things that divide the base and generate malaise, then it drives people away from the polls, and in this case, it drives democrat voters away. It's a very long and hallowed tradition of [other kind of bad people] that want to disrupt the west. If you are old enough to remember just two years ago, you'll see this same pattern when Trump was up for re-election, and two years before that, and before that, and before that... This isn't some new strategy. It's just a very efficient strategy because it spreads virally.

So, please, kindly [sexual congress yourself] you [sexual congress] [person lacking education]. I'm not moving the goal posts, you just lack the ability to understand what's happening. Look at history. Study the patterns. Try to glean some understanding before you make another [uneducated] [sexual congress] comment.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You got the source you asked for. Those goalposts can stay put.

Stop trying to convince me to vote blue. I already do. I voted for harris in the last election.

Democrats will lose if they force another genocidal corpodem on us. This is an honest assessment of the electorate you have. You will interpret it as purity testing.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world -2 points 1 week ago

Have a good night.

[–] RecursiveParadox@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

You do realize he ran in ...New York City, right? The Big D machine has little say when New Yorkers get their gander up.

This is not necessarily repeatable anywhere else in the US, not a major city anyway.

[–] Arcanepotato@crazypeople.online 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wish it wasn't that way, but it is, so you gotta go what you gotta do and vote blue, no matter how much you want to be a tankie slut.

damn you sure set me straight mister, I wouldn't want to be a slut

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Live your life, King.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"Man our country is really going to shit, better keep doing the same thing and hope it'll be different this time."

Yes, in the immediate near term vote blue "no matter who but if you think toothless dems are going to save us you're only going to be did disappointed.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yes, in the immediate near term vote blue "no matter who

This is literally all we're saying.

And we're saying it to the droves of idiots that don't seem to understand that you can't just magically vote a 3rd party into power. It will take DECADES of voting for them in local/state elections and building a 3rd party coalition in Congress, before it makes sense to vote 3rd party in a federal election.

Those idiots are ALL OVER THIS PLATFORM. And they, along with the sewer scum non-voters, are the reason Donald Trump is our leader and fascism is alive and well in America.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Counterpoint: I’ve been doing that exact strategy for 26 years and all I have to show for it is Fetterman

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fetterman suffered brain damage. You can't hold the strategy hostage because someone got hit in the head.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes but he’s all I have to show for it. Literally no one else I voted for in the primary won, and the Democrats almost always lose.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Looks like you got more work to do. Get out and volunteer. Talk to peers. Drum up more enthusiasm about voting. Those bingo playing GOP mummies aren't resting on their laurels, they are telling all their friends at the function how to vote. All the time. Every time. You have to, too.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I’ve been doing as much of that as I can stand.

I think it’s me. Like how computers start working when I pay attention, politics stops working when I participate.
