Here goes my first post on Lemmy ever...
Does anyone remember FurryMUCK and Furcadia? They were some of the earliest furry themed exploration games out there and I sank hours into each one back in the day. My furry friend circle overlapped with Dr Cat, the creator of Furcadia and his apartment was once the epicenter of the fandom in central Texas. I really do miss those times - lots of extremely talented, friendly, and weird-in-a-good-way folks gathered there. It was a giant brain trust of people that once worked at Origin Systems on games like Ultima and Wing Commander.
In cleaning up some stale directories on my homelab I ran across the last archive of my old Furcadia character which led me down the proverbial rabbit hole. It turns out the game still exists and I think I might rejoin again.
Anyone else have memories playing these or similar furry games? Got any modern ones you like today?
Peanut gallery from browsing fediverse all, but the mmo champions online was kept afloat (and might still be) by a combination of furries, superhero fans, and fans of odd ip that wanted an outlet because of its costuming. Furries were the largest group to so Im guessing over half.
