Rules:
1. Be civil

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Punctuation is great and all that, but taking pride in looking down is an ugly look.

my punctuation does not have to be perfect for the ideas to be understood, language, grammar, word use, and communication is as varied as the human experience, and obsessive pedantic emphasis on arbitrary rules serves hierarchy more than the free exchange of information. seems like more people understand this concept than dont as i have more upvotes than both of the obtuse grammar priss mounds. Also grades are not indicative of intelligence, in fact there are all kinds of intelligence that cant be formally measured.
It doesn't have to be perfect, but that doesn't mean you should go full Saramago. Punctuation can really help the reader organize and process what you are saying. I read your entire first comment but I retained absolutely nothing because it just kept going and going and going. There's a big difference between grammatical pedantry and just wanting to understand what someone is saying.
if someone wants to understand what im saying they can communicate that to me by asking directly, i type many different ways on many differwnt formats and in my everyday life with the people i talk to regularly, i have no issues whatsoever, no one cares about my use of commas and run on sentences, misspelling, or punctuation, and if they did, they would ask me to clarify what im saying in a straight forward manner, and this includes most random people in piefed communities i engage with. i actually have not encountered substanceless pedantry since i left reddit. its obvious the trolls didnt care about what i was saying, and you dont seem to care either. i have no idea what saramago is and im not asking anyone for gramar advice and dont care how i seem to random people not trying understand me in the first place. English is a living language with a wide varieties of ways its used in writing, typing, and spoken language, people can be open to that fact and speak up about misunderstandings directly, which is what i normally encounter. I don't need grammar advice and am willing to clarify anything about my original if asked.

Basically, it was a 1 sentence review of their problem and everyone but the person I replied to decided to take it as anything other than internet fuckery.

There are venues where adhering to a formal style is important (arguably), but a random thread on a forum ain't it. It's ok to show up in your linguistic sweatpants sometimes.

That is funny but making fun of someone because of their grammar is just not great. Perhaps English is not this persons first language. Maybe they were not able to get the same education as you because of outside factors.

im just having genuine human interactions with you, after you in the first place took a jab at me over something arbitrary and unrelated to the original topic, and i think even with great effort to miss the point and deflect the trajectory of conversation, its very apparent how increadibly useless bringing up grammar and punctuation is, as this seems to be an exchange filled with animosity and ill will, going nowhere and accomplishing nothing.
