I was like you at first. Tried it once and went back to Hyperland.

Gave Niri another shot and then the mental model clicked. It's just so comfy to not have your windows resized all the time just because of opening another app or window. The overview is also bomb. You can also install stuff like Noctalia shell which comes with a dock, so you can quickly switch to an app anywhere on any workspace. Niri supports that. ๐Ÿ‘

And I use workspaces in Niri for the exact same reason. One for coding/work, one for communication (slack, email, etc), one for gaming/entertainment.

I recommend giving it another shot if you're interested and open-minded to optimizing your workflows. Otherwise stick with what you know, that's also fine.

Yeah i still have Niri installed along with my other window managers. I'll probably keep trying it every now and then. I do think the overview is pretty cool. At the moment my favorite window manager is probably River and i use it the most. Doesn't have any fancy animations and such but it pretty much has all the practical features i care about.

Hey, if you're not missing any features and you're not really curious either, I wouldn't switch from what you like. But if you're curious, I hear probably 9/10 people love Niri. People at work are always asking me what I'm running lol. I try to spread the word. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ Have a good one!
