Hopefully Trump steals the midterms as well and plunges the entire world into further chaos, maybe then Americans will consider doing something? I'm genuinely curious as to what it will take for general strikes?

It’s going to take a culture shift. People on the ground don’t feel like they can trust each other. Until we have a sense that our neighbors won’t let us go hungry, a general strike can’t be sustained.

We get there with mutual aid, building relationships with our neighbors, and time. General strike 2028

Damn, if you're aiming for 2028 to effect any realistic changes that ship might have sailed. People are already hungry and broke, I don't understand you lot to be honest.

Just 2 more years of fascism then we can speak up

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Fascism will dig in and you won't have elections without violence, we've literally seen it before. Only this time they have the worlds richest people funding them.

He’s being facetious. Sarcastic, even.

It's a sign of the times that I couldn't pick up on that...

My neighbors are letting me go hungry. Right now I need help and there is no one.

People here will not general strike until they literally cannot feed themselves. And even then, it's a toss up.

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

The problem with that is you're going to get nothing but resentment and very little sympathy from most people. The actions of your government is causing chaos in the world, and for all intents and purposes you're doing nothing about it.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 hours ago

I'm just stating the reality, not defending it.

Something like 40% of people in this country support what's happening. They might tell a survey that they're not happy about invading Iran, but it will never stop them from financially supporting, and voting for, the fascists that are doing the things.

People here are rotten to the core.

Have you not studied basic history? Americans won't do shit.

No one does anything, until they do. And someones did somethings already, the introduction of UH boss to Nemesis, being framed on Luigi for instance.

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 1 points 8 hours ago

It's a question that needs to be asked, and yes I know they won't. If they haven't already with everything illegal and immoral and Trumps been up to, they never will.
