Imagine the sticker shock for drivers in downtown Los Angeles when they pulled into a Chevron station and saw the price: $8.21 a gallon.

CA sounds truly crazy from an outsider perspective. Considering I also live in a state that has high prices to live, but then I see CA fast food and gas prices and go it's not so bad here after all! Last i checked yesterday gas is $3.20 here for regular. I do not believe i have ever seen it over $3.50 yet. I could not imagine paying $8 a gallon regularly. The funny thing is it does sound like there are things that are cheaper for CA, at least it was 10-15 years ago when I knew someone living in L.A. and could get pints for $2-$3 a glass. Even at that time the prices by me were $6 min.

I remember going over to other states and seeing gas being 1-2$ less.

Nowadays about 1/3 of the vehicles I see are electric. And homes are fast tracking solar. Not because of environmental pressure most of the time, its due to $$. Even with PGE gouging us (50c per kilowatt), I remember calculating it at around half the price of gas around here (with insurance/wear and tear/ etc... all calculated in). And solar on houses will pay for itself in around 8 years.

3.20 sounds like a dream!
