I was reading about the history of the paper clip and was thinking about butterfly-style paper clips and their history. Does anyone know when and where they were created or any other details?

I know novelty shaped paperclips are a thing but I've seen this design produced by different companies which makes me think it isn't a novelty thing.

When searching for it online I either get product pages or hair clips.

In places where GPS isn't available, in an underground transit station for example, it really seems like a no brainer to just use the cell towers in range to triangulate your location.

The police can already track the location of your phone using cell towers. That's how 911 knows where you are when you call them (AFAIK). Why isn't it just available for the phone itself to figure out its own location so you can use it to navigate?

I see a lot of communities hosted on hexbear.net on trending but when I click the link it says there's nothing there. Why is this the case? I'm using the Voyager app, but I' not sure if that has anything to do with it. Is there a way to make them visible?

I recently dug out one of my old tablets because I wanted to use it again, but something must have fallen on it because there's a dent about 2-3 mm deep on the back metal casing of the tablet, kind of near the middle, definitely over the battery. Plus the battery was left completely drained for well over a year (or more, can't remember how long) which is also not great for it.

The tablet boots up and seems to still work okay, but now I'm kind of paranoid. How high is the risk that whatever dented the back of the tablet damaged the battery and now it's just waiting to catch on fire now that I've started using it and subjecting it to charge-discharge cycles? Should I also be worried about the deformed back case exerting pressure on the battery and damaging it over time as the tablet moves around? Are there any red flags I should look out for that something is not right with the battery?

Basically, can I just assume it's nothing more than cosmetic damage? Or is there a good chance that it will burn the house down?

Is it because the glow would fade after a year or two? Even if it's not cost effective compared to adding to LEDs I thought it would be a novelty thing.

I did a quick search online and it doesn't seem very common. Mostly keyboard covers.

I'm mostly talking about Micro USB cables; they were pretty notorious for gradually becoming loose.

They definitely wouldn't be a great fix and could potentially make things worse but for electronics you don't plan on unplugging again or mind dying shortly after I could see them coming in handy if you don't want to solder on a new connector or rely on strategically placing a device where the cable makes proper contact. I could see them being a weird item you stumble across on Ali Express.

I have a backpack that uses MOLLE webbing and a closed loop, similar to the one pictured, for the chest strap but I broke it. I've tried searching for terms like MOLLE webbing hooked loop and what not but can't seem to find just the loop. The item pictured was for a strap you can use to compress bags and they seem to be mostly available in packs. I've just been using a carabinier in the meantime.

Making an informed purchase is important.

When looking for these products, they never specify what their contents are. Yet, I am a very heavy suspicion they are just isopropyl alcohol.
