I'm interested in your take of the risks to markets with this Iran war quagmire. So tell me do you care if this war drags on? Are you hedging? Are you worried about a oil shock and the implications of that?

Hi guys.

Following the meteroric start-up of Roundhill's DRAM ETF, there is now a ETF that focusses on the laser/photonics/interconnects for AI data centres [ticker: LYTE] - which has been utterly BOOMING recently. Clearly this tech is the future.

Also cheap, at only $25 US a share or so, so easy to cost-$-average or buy or sell - I expect this to double this year and be a very strong gainer over time.

Any thoughts or feedback on this new ETF?

Hi, guys.

I just want to discuss Micron, and predictions for August 2027 after our rough month in July.

As many of you are aware, Micron closed down on Friday after a massive rally on Thursday, crashing the price back down to $820 or so to end July. And end-of-month sell off was expected.

Friday also saw South Korean memory stocks rise about 30%, with the Fab Four going strong Pre-Market until Wall Street opened.

I expect Monday 3rd to open Red in South Korea, with a sell-off after the NASDAQ memory stocks were sold-off Friday, as South Korea are still, IMO, in a high state of fear.

This sell-off on SK will likely create a viscous cycle and add to any sell-off of Memory stocks on Monday.

Tuesday and Wednesday we have the last three (3) Earnings Reports: (a) AMD [Tuesday]. (b) Sandisk and Western Digital [Wednesday].

So, I don't expect too much increase in Micron price until Thursday morning, mimicking the week prior. Friday may or may not see another sell off.

My price prediction for Micon is it will reach $1300 by the end of the year, possibly more. But once Micron shakes off the false market sentiment, it will sky-rocket up to $2000 and beyond.

Who else is bullish on Micron, and what is your take?

I'm curious what peoples thoughts are on the idea of overweighting midcap stocks.

Avoiding large caps appears to provide a premium according to historic research, outside of this dotcom bubble style AI bull run as we are in now. Large companies can weather storms easier and have lower volatility, but come with the downside of providing less upside growth potential.

Avoiding unprofitable small growth stocks also provides a premium. Unprofitable small growth companies have a high skewness, and smallcap growth are generally called the "black hole of investing", so avoiding them entirely provides a premium.

Mid-caps are a happy middle that are neither dragged down by large cap safety nor the black hole of small-cap-growth lottery.

There was a pretty good analysis in Simply Wall Street, where they labeled the past quarter century as the high tech quarter (amongst others). Personally, climate collapse may well be the determining factor for the period 2025-2050. Any speculation what this will mean for investors (trends, individual stocks)?

I'm looking for the best portfolio manager with the most insight. Has anyone tried a variety of them and has one that has been the best for them?

I've got some obscure stocks, where do I go to see the most news on it. Is Yahoo the best, or something paid?

Generally, do the general-purpose mutual funds from the big brokers like Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab include international companies, or is it mostly US companies?

I'm interested in investing in other countries, but I don't know if it's strictly necessary to choose a fund that says "European" or "International" on the tin as I'd like a mix. Is there an advantage or tax issue with investing in a European broker? Any recommendations there?

Thanks, folks.

Isn't a increase in gold price a signal that dollar reserve status is dwindling? What can I do to protect myself?

just putting this out into the void consider this a christmas present to anyone that bothers looking here. first rule on gambling with someone elses tips, don't risk anymore than you can stand to lose

(but seriously...this is the real deal, biotech BO's send this shit to double-digit billions overnight...likely going through Q1 or Q2 of next year)

Thinking about investing in new AI IPOs? I’m seeing a huge contradiction. New models like Mamba are insanely efficient. They scale linearly, not quadratically like Transformers. This democratizes AI, letting smaller teams build powerful models for cheap. You can run a 70Billion parameter model on laptop having a 64MB GPU (with quantization).

I recently wanted to change an investment from default to "dividend reinvestment". The searches and the AI overviews were awful, so i eventually had to find it by trial and error. This is how you do it:

  1. Have an account
  2. Purchase or transfer securities and wait until it clears
  3. Navigate to "Help & Settings" > "Help & Support"
  4. Part of the "Investment Settings" on this page is the "Dividend Reinvestment Settings"

There you go. Geez. The instructions were all "go to account and go to dividend investment settings", and that is clearly not the path per above.

I'm hoping to find an ethically minded ETF (ESG) that isn't run by a publicly held or just plain evil company. I don't see the point in using Vanguard, BlackRock, DWS, etc when I want to be socially responsible. Is there a non profit investment firm? The salaries could be sky high but the company would have a stated goal of social responsibility.

Abstract
This paper analyzes the risk-return characteristics of socially responsible investing by employing a time-varying capital gain and Sharpe ratio analysis for various investment horizons. We employ the MSCI ESG (environmental, social and governance) leaders indices in ten markets encompassing Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, UK, USA, China, India, Russia, and South Africa. Our sample ranges from 2007–2020. We document that ESG investments have very desirable return and hedging attributes for investors in these markets, and especially so in the USA and emerging markets.

looking at their fundamental financial data, to me it looks like an absolute banger of a company. they heavily invested in projects that are going to double their profits from 2024 levels by 2030, which is already starting to reflect in the financial statements (annual on the left side of the graphic, the quarterly data on the right side. What do you think about this one? Unfortunately i cannot upload multiple images with charts regarding their competition (Chevron, Occidental), but this one has me excited the most.

Let me know if you would like to see a post with these charts covering other companies that you like!

I am kind of a commodity geek and I like to buy what is cheap and out of favor at the moment. If you are interested in commodities as well, what are you buying which is not on everyone's radar?

Maybe I'm asking for too much here, but I'm looking for a less-scummy source to base my research off.

I like market-screener, but they are becoming frustrating trying to push towards higher paid plans. I rarely need much more than detailed price & dividend history, valuation ratios and broker consensus.

What are you using? What have you found? What would you never do again?

Hey, maybe y'all can give some unbiased advice. My wife co-owns a €1.4 million villa in Spain with her grandma. The property has been on the market for 2 years. I'm inclined to believe that the realtors are incompetent and that something is being done wrong. Am I crazy, or is something wrong here?

There's an older lady who's a family friend who currently manages the property and deals with the realtors on my wife's behalf. She's lovely, but not an expert in this, by any means. We are told by her that an appraisal late last year upheld the €1.4 million valuation, but to be fair, neither of us have seen that appraisal.

The property is currently listed by several realtors in the area – namely, Villa Iberia, Inmo Palafrugell, La Clau Brava, Espigul, and Cala Maset. My understanding is whoever manages to sell the house, gets the commission.

The house is in the Platja d'Aro region and is ~350 m2 in size, with 4 bedrooms and a large outdoor pool, a short drive away from the beach.

Is the price way off, or is something else wrong? Surely 2 years is too long for selling this! Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to give some advice.

"The United States must confront its own contradictions — between rhetoric and reality, between consumption and production, between global ambition and domestic decay. This means real decisions: revisiting the tax code to ensure the wealthy pay their share, reducing wasteful defense expenditures and investing in productive capacity rather than speculative finance."

Hello all,

From the beginning of my investment history about 3y ago I have heard that the S&P500 is one of the best ETFs that you can invest it.

In light of recent events I think this is becoming less and less the case. Do you think that is still the case? And if no what are you investing in?
