Hope a corvid-adjacent meme is also acceptable here 😊

Bad shot but cool nonetheless. Though, I am biased, I love all Corvidae indiscriminately.

It is a quite hot day (30 degrees Celsius) for this location. It usually hovers around 25 degrees. The jackdaw was walking about with another jackdaw looking for food, actually pecking some dead insects off of a cars bumper. The other jackdaw did not have its beak open. >

Is this a cooling behavior, perhaps similar to when dogs pant?

What better way to dry off after a bath than to fly as high as possible, spread your wings, and let the wind do the heavy lifting?

This post is a little gory, but that's nature for you. I do believe this jay had killed some house sparrows as they're thick near this spot. House sparrows are invasive and outcompete many native species here. They also kill other nestlings, so in a way this jay is keeping the balance. Saying all that and gore aside, I love these photos. Some of my favorites I've taken yet.

This is a clip of the second barrel roll I saw this raven do, after the first one I thought ‘if you don’t film the next one it does you’re going to be mad at yourself!’

The wind was nice and the temperature was pleasant, and I guess the ravens were feeling it too.

We had a wicked ice storm with tons of downed trees and devastating damage to the power grid. This is the second once in a hundred year storm we've had in two years, not a pattern, but concerning. I did get some pretty good photos I'll drop over the next few days.
