On southparkuncensored.com I provided the banned/censored South Park episodes, previously using MEGA before they were removed due to Paramount copyright takedown requests.

Now I'm looking for non DMCA compliant alternative hosting platforms that support streaming/embedding and don't use ads. I'm willing to pay.

I am the author of An Updated Guide for Adobe Zii in 2024. Earlier this morning I received a copyright warning from Reddit and my guide was taken down. Seeing as this is the new home for piracy discussions I thought I'd post it here and update it based on user feedback.

Copy of original post: https://web.archive.org/web/20240803045318/https://www.reddit.com/r/AdobeZii/comments/1c1zpxq/an_updated_guide_for_adobe_zii_in_2024/

Goals

I have parsed through r/Adobe Zii for a bit and this is how I installed the adobe 2021 version of the creative cloud on my pc. A couple requirements for my method were:

  1. I needed to be able to install without root privileges or be in an isolated environment when root is required. I think its fair to say that the TNT group is a reputable source, but its always better to be safe. I have used their software before and never had issues. The risk comes from the distributor as most of these hacks are posted on private forums.

  2. The actual software needs to come from adobe. This eliminates the risk of malware being injected by a third party.

  3. I'd like to run the latest version of Adobe CC in case I get access to a legitimate copy of a program.

FAQ

Why not just download the latest versions (2024) of adobe on cmacked or torrentmac?

A couple things, firstly, they are from a new developer (Monster Group) without an established reputation. They could be perfectly safe, but I just didn't want to risk it. Secondly, I'd rather get an actual download from adobe and modify that. This is similar to the method of GenP on windows. In fact there you can run sandboxie and see exactly what files are changed.

Why not use anti CC for the 2022 version of adobe?

I may be wrong, but it seems anti CC needs root permissions to run. Further, I would rather just use the actual creative cloud application. I used to pay for CC but as a broke student, I just cannot afford it when all I use is after effects. It's so dumb how they make it so expensive to sub to just a single app.

Do I need to use a VM to install Adobe Zii?

No you do not. The main benefit is getting a playground to test versions in and also avoid running cracks on your main system.

I am getting a JSON error?

This means your version of Adobe CC updated in the background. In order for this to work you must use 5.7.0 (or 5.9.0) version of Adobe CC. It does this fairly fast before you can disable autoupdates sometimes. It can be helpful to turn of wifi temporily so you can disable the autoupdates. See https://github.com/Drovosek01/adobe-packager/issues/56#issuecomment-1546789725 for more information.

Will this work on Apple silicon?

It should in theory. I have received feedback of people getting it to work. I developed this guide using an intel based macbook pro. Make sure in step 2 you download the version of Adobe CC for intel or arm based on your system.

Method

After a bunch of research, this is my method.

  1. Install macOS in a VM. I'd recommend using the free trial of Parallels. Once installed select install macOS from recovery partition. Select free trial and proceed with macOS installation. This will take a while. (I recommend a VM because you will need to install an old version of adobe CC during the install to get this to work)

  2. The next step is to install CC on the vm. Download version 5.7.0 linked below and immediately turn off keep Adobe CC up to date. If you fail to prevent it from updating, you will get a JSON error later (see here for more info). Install the newest version of Adobe CC on your host and sign in using the same account. Do not enable adobe genuine verification thing. It will see you're pirating the apps and block you.

INTEL: https://ccmdl.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/KCCC/CCD/5_7_0/osx10/ACCCx5_7_0_1307.dmg
ARM: https://ccmdl.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/KCCC/CCD/5_7_0/macarm64/ACCCx5_7_0_1307.dmg

  1. Then download whatever version of the apps you need with https://github.com/Drovosek01/adobe-packager. There are instructions in the repo on how to do this. (Note: at the step where you say which XML version you want, enter V4).

  2. Download Adobe Zii v6.1.7 from appnee dot com.

  3. At this point, because we're in a VM, root permissions isn't really a concern so you can just run the patch. But, if you'd rather not, here's how you can do it: https://www.reddit.com/r/AdobeZii/comments/g3uj17/zii_is_asking_for_root_permission/foj8zy5/

  4. Copy each adobe application from your virtual machine to your host Application folder.

  5. Create a firewall rule to block all traffic to and from the application. I used little snitch but you can also use lulu.

  6. Enjoy your 100% free version of adobe. Happy sailing!

Tips

It can take a while to find which version of Adobe Zii will actually work with which version of the adobe product you're interested in. This is the beauty of a VM is you can muck around with minimal consequence. It also means you can keep the VM around to test new versions, if it works, then copy over to host. I've heard of others installing macos on a separate drive and then booting that instead for higher performance.

A word of warning. Only install Adobe Zii from a reputable source. I did some digging and for some of the other downloads, the file is no longer signed meaning it has been potentially modified.

Note: I have successfully tested this on Lightroom classic 10.3. For After Effects, I found that Adobe Zii 5.3.2 worked with After Effects 17.5. I suspect this is not an issue with Adobe Zii, but rather in my initial tests I messed up some file permissions.

So Amazon finally closed up the kindle 4 pc loophole (bah) and that means I need to learn how to find ebooks for the authors who insist on releasing exclusively on kindle.

Looks like ebook-hunter and the like are the way to go for that (and I set up a reminder to try to get an invite to myanonamouse and we'll see how that goes). But... that site uses tiny-files which is straight up cancer. Not the end of the world to click the same link and close the same blocked pop ups five times in a row for a one off but... yeah.

Back in the day we used apps like jdownloader to make this less painful but from checking out the flatpak... that might be actively malware at this point AND it wants me to install definitely malware browser plugins and the like.

So is there a better alternative? Preferably something I can run in a container on a random server.

Thanks.

I wanna listen to a particular song by an artist who has recently turned pretty nazi. As I generally use Spotify I now refuse to listen to his music in there, esp as it generates earnings. I kinda wanna pirate the music somehow…I’m not gonna as I’m not gonna down a song or two and then store it on my phone like it’s the year 2000. But short story is this me justifying piracy to myself.

Hey fellas,

just came across this sub to discuss my torrenting issue.

I am using linux, have a mullvad subscription and use qbittorrent. Because I read something about VPN-killswitches not being 100% reliable, I also bound the network interface from my mullvad-VPN to the qbittorrent-client.

Now something, what is kind of weird. I started a testrun over night with some legal torrents. In the morning I saw, that the downloads where finished and also seeding. The mullvad client said, that it was connected. But when I wanted to make a "torrent-IP-leak-test" online, I realized, that I couldn't open any website, because the "website couldn't be found" (firefox btw).

So I tried to ping 8.8.8.8, which worked, so I assume it must be something wrong on a DNS-level. In terminal I also checked if the Mullvad network interface was still connected, and it was. After I made a simple reconnect to the VPN-server via the MV-client, everything was normal again.

My first guess was, that this issue possibly occurs, because my ISP does an automatic reconnect in the middle of the night.

Now I'm wondering if that setup still can be considered safe. Did you experience similar problems? Is it a threat to privacy?

Using Debian if that's important.

~sp3ctre

+++EDIT 1+++

Observation 1: The source of the issue must be the automatic reconnect in my router (required from ISP) in the middle of the night. It encountered too, when I chose another reconnect-time. A manual reconnect in the router interface led to the same issue. Interestingly, pulling the plug from the router doesn't lead to it.

Observation 2: Since I wasn't able to check my external IP without being able to DNS-resolve these "ip-check-websites", I decided to go the direct way via IP of the website (found via who.is), which worked for some websites. Turns out, at least my IP-address seems not to leak (its my VPN-IP). These special torrent-IP-check-websites won't work at all, if the DNS can't be resolved at the beginning of the process (when putting the test-torrent into the list).

I will try if it makes any difference, when I turn of my alternative-DNS in the router. Will also try some other VPN-servers.

+++EDIT 2+++

The Mullvad-support solved my problem. I want to share it with you:

It is probably because the NetworkManager updates /etc/resolv.conf which the Mullvad app also updates. So it overwrites the change that the app made.

The Mullvad app does not use the NetworkManager but it will use systemd-resolved if you configure that. Disconnect Mullvad and use the following commands:

sudo systemctl enable systemd-resolved
sudo ln -sf /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf
sudo systemctl start systemd-resolved
sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager*

New to this, but just set up Stremio on my desktop with a paid Real Debris subscription, and added the Torrentio (along with some other addons).

Worked amazing this morning - watched a new episode of our kids favorite show that we didn't have access to before (~20 min long) flawlessly. BUT when we tried to load the next episode we lost our internet connection. I thought it was a fluke, but our ISP is pretty reliable and it just happened again. Tried to load a show, it was slow and laggy, then we lost our WiFi.

SO, obviously there's a problem. We aren't on a VPN yet because I read that we didn't need one when using RD, but something is clearly wrong and I don't want to piss our ISP off and lose our service.

I'm not using it of course until we figure it out. I've considered getting Proton VPN and trying with that, but I feel like after two times losing our connection I probably better not make any mistakes. 🫤

Advice please?

UPDATE: Resolved, I think. 🤞 Our WiFi came back after a while, and I made a few changes. I deleted the newer version of Stremio and replaced it with the older stable version, changed DNS to quad9, double checked my Torrentio configuration, and ran it using Proton VPN. It was slow and laggy, but I think that is more to do with WiFi speeds here than anything else. Tried without VPN and it still worked but didn't improve speed.

Hey all, I know a lot of people are migrating to private torrent sites, and OK, that's a choice. However there are still a lot of people on the public torrents who are just leeching and not seeding.

I have several popular (old/classic) movies in my feed that I have uploaded (literally) 1000x the original and many more in the several hundred times. That's fine, I choose to support the community, but it's pretty depressing when I look at the seeders count and those movies have 2 or 3 other seeders.

This only works if you share. Please don't cut off as soon as you've downloaded.

And on a personal note, if anyone has audio or video files for "Machine Gun Fellatio" also listed as MGF could you please start seeding in particular

"MGF Pack 1"

"MGF+Pack+2"

"MGF+Pack+3"

If I can get the download completed I'll keep them up permanently, but unfortunately as they are obscure/rare I'm getting nowhere.

Rules don't permit me showing the torrent link of course. DM if that would help

Apologies for being the bearer of bad news. "6 hours ago" means roughly 6-7pm Eastern on April 30, 2025. I have no further information; I only know because I was going to visit the wiki and . . . apparently now I'm not.

It's under "Guides & Search Engines" in the Software section of the megathread, should anyone with rights care to update.

I acknowledge this is a bit tangential to c/piracy's usual topics but I just thought Zhèng Yī Sǎo deserves a bit more recognition for her anti-imperialist stance and amazingly successful career. All credit to the author of the original post (@ZDL@ttrpg.network).

If I were to ask you who the most successful pirate in history was, I'm guessing you'd come up with names like Captain Kidd or Blackbeard or any number of others of that crowd in the Caribbean. But what if I told you that history's most successful pirate was in China, and was a woman? Would that surprise you? Intrigue you?

Prepare to be intrigued as I introduce you then, today, to one of the single most feared pirates in all of history: Zheng Yi Sao (this is the name I will be using here; she went by others), the pirate queen who was hunted by not one, not two, but three imperial powers, yet who retired peacefully and died not of violence, but of old age.

Humble Beginnings

Zheng Yi Sao—born 石阳 (Shí Yáng) in approximately 1775 somewhere around Xinhui, Guangdong—was a Tanka who worked as a prostitute-later-procurer on a floating Tanka brothel in Guangdong (or so the story goes).

Marriage

Details of her early life are not well-documented, but what is know is that around 1801 she married the ~~pirate~~ privateer Zheng Yi. (Her name literally means "Zheng Yi's wife". Welcome to patriarchy.) A year after their marriage, Zheng Yi took over a pirate fleet from a captured and executed cousin and became, after some heavy infighting among the pirates off the coast of Guangdong, and with the natural organizational skills of Zheng Yi Sao, the commander of a unified fleet of pirates. By 1805 Zheng Yi and Zheng Yi Sao had wrangled together a confederation of pirates with colour-coded fleets of red, black, blue, white, yellow, and purple. Commanding the massive Red Fleet of … You know what? This is too much about her husband and not enough about who we really want to talk about. Let's move on.

Inherited Command

Short version: Zheng Yi, by now the head of the confederation, with his adoptive son Zhang Bao now commanding the Red Fleet, was blown overboard in a gale in 1807 and died. Zheng Yi Sao effectively inherited the loose control her husband had had over the confederation, and Zhang Bao took formal command over the Red Fleet. After entering into a sexual relation with Zhang Bao she cemented control over the pirate confederacy and became the queen of the pirates she would later be famous for.

Queen

Year after year Zheng Yi Sao got more and more ambitious and ruthless. She incorporated cast-iron discipline among the pirates with harsh penalties for everything from theft of booty to rape of female captives. Despite a major setback in 1809 with the absolute destruction of the White Fleet, she became such a terror to the Chinese authorities (and the East India Tea Company), destroying fleet after fleet sent to engage her confederacy, that the Chinese empire looked to "barbarian" empires to help.

The Portuguese agreed to help and managed to blockade the Red Fleet in 1809 … only for the two imperial powers to be fought to a standstill and stalemate as unfavourable winds kept the pirates from breaking free. Finally the winds changed and the fleet broke free, humiliating two imperial powers in their wake.

The Winds of Change

In 1810, seemingly at the height of its power, the confederacy surrendered to the Great Qing. The motives for this surrender are unclear, but it is speculated that the confederacy was in such a powerful state that it could dictate the terms of its surrender and the Qing would gladly agree to them just to finally be rid of the scourge that was harrying their coastlines and rivers. Other theories suggest that upon the British entering the fray Zheng Yi Sao saw the writing on the wall and knew it was time to quit while she was ahead.

Surrender

On April 20, 1810, Zheng Yi Sao and her adoptive stepson Zhang Bao officially surrendered with 17,318 pirates, 226 ships, 1,315 cannons, and 2,798 assorted weapons. (24 of those ships and 1,433 of the pirates were under her personal command.) Zhang Bao was awarded the rank of lieutenant, and was allowed to retain a private fleet of up to 30 ships. The pair were also given permission to officially marry. (Don't think too hard on this.) Pardons were issued to all of the surrendering pirates, and the regular seamen were given pork, wine, and money along with a general amnesty.

Along with that amnesty, Zheng Yi Sao was also given land in Guangdong where she operated a successful gambling house.

Post-surrender Life

Not a lot is known in detail about Zheng Yi Sao's post-surrender life. It is known that she gave birth to a son in 1813. It is also known that she gave birth to a daughter, but little else is known about her. (Welcome to patriarchy.) Aside from a legal case (which was dismissed by the emperor) over some money, she led a pretty unremarkable life, dying in 1844 at the age of 68-69, having run a successful (and infamous) gambling hall on Hainan in the intervening time.

Influence

For a woman almost completely unknown in the west, Zheng Yi Sao has had an enduring fascination and appeal here in the east. She appears as a character in films, in television, in literature, in graphic novels, and in video games. Scholarly works have been written about here from shortly after her death onward. Places have been named (both officially and unofficially) after her. She has cemented her place in history ... and justly so.

Oh, and that thumbnail image for this essay? That's the only known photograph of the great pirate queen herself.

Not sure if a local gov could get away with this. Is it sensible to ask the local gov take formal actions to declare copyright as unenforcable on things like service manuals and wiring diagrams, which product makers protect almost like trade secrets? It’s not likely enforced anyway, but a formal step would be needed before leaked service manuals could be distributed by public libraries.

In the EU, manufacturers must share repair docs with third-party /insured/ repair professionals (not consumers) for some specific products like washing machines.

Using a stick

Would it be sensible for a local law to require those professionals who have privileged access to repair docs to share whatever they obtain in the course of their work with a public library?

using a carrot

Would it be sensible for a policy to compensate professionals who have privileged access to repair docs for sharing whatever they obtain in the course of their work with a public library? It could be abused. E.g. an appliance repair shop could submit multiple wiring diagrams for the same product as separate submissions if they are (e.g.) paid $/€ 50 per submission.

If the carrot and stick are both used, repair pros could get 50 for the first submitted doc for each model, but then have a mandate to supply any additional docs they receive for that model without further compensation. Maybe that’s too detailed for a petition.

In a post-scarcity society, manufacturing would be cheap. Goods are easy to come by, keeping us comfortable and fed. We can spend our time at other pursuits, such as the development of futuristic technology. Some economists argue that such abundance is impossible. Cheaper food, they suggest, will grow more mouths to feed. For data, on the third hand, we already have a post-scarcity economy. With current equipment, it is nearly free to copy data. One original movie, song, game, or program... can be distributed to the internet overnight. Access to these services would be universal.

Predictably. Moneyed interests enforce artificial scarcity. Legions of programmers, lawyers, and other hacks extract payment from anyone sharing in the culture. They dont care who they exclude, only maximizing their own share. The U.S. legal system changes its rules to suit the powerful. For example, The Copyright Act of 1976, bought by bribes from Disney Company, expanded the length of copyright from 56 to 75 years. Now its over 100 years.

100 years is too long

What about living memory? Show an elder -- say a 70-year-old human -- one of the best movies they saw 50 years ago. Maybe they have an important perspective! But that classic movie may be inaccessible. Better content gets more expensive, and older content gets rarer. Lastly, the elders die. Those cultural moments, connections between real life and stories still locked away a century later, are lost.

Printed books fall apart. Ancient tombs decay. But data is cheap. Lets protect it!

Hoping someone can help me out with figuring out how to use torrent streaming within Jellyfin (or similar). I've been researching/experimenting for a week now and am only getting more confused, lol.

Currently using Stremio with TorBox (and Trakt) as a Netflix/PrimeVideo replacement. It works great for streaming movies or my favorite shows quickly at high-quality with no buffering, but Stremio is profoundly terrible at everything else (and is sketchy AF).

I want to put together something that acts like a locally hosted version of the late great Fmovies -- simply shows what's available, and keeps track of what I'm watching and which series is next with easily configurable and customizable watchlists. When I choose something to watch and press play, it plays immediately -- just like any commercial (or pirate) streaming service.

I'm not interested in downloading/hoarding, only streaming. I don't want anything downloaded to my computer, but having an option to cache something locally for a certain time would a convenient feature. TorBox currently does all the streaming and seeding.

Jellyfin looks like the way to go. But all of the guides and plugins are geared towards Usenet/Torrent collectors, and not streamers. The Arr suite seems overkill for what I need, but certain parts seem useful so maybe something could be cobbled together? Then there's newer plugins/apps such as Jellyseer, ListSync, etc, but all the information is geared towards downloaders and not streamers.

I'm not married to TorBox, but it works great for me and has the option for Usenet as well as debrid. If something works better I'll check it out.

Is this possible using Jellyfin? Is there a hidden or unlisted plugin for it like the Torrentio Stremio plugin or the Umbrella Kodi plugin for Jellyfin.

Or can the Arr apps do this without having to download/organize?

Or some other media server entirely?

Much thanks for any help or hints you can give. If I get something working I'll post a detailed guide if there's need for one.

The repacking is getting kind of annoying. I don't think it serves much of a purpose these days other than for the repackers to jerk themselves off over how efficient their compression is.

I'd like to download torrents that don't require unpacking, and preferably without an 'installer' at all.

Does anyone know if there are sources for this? Thank you.

Yet again the Internet Archiving is suffering big this time, a coalition of major record labels filed a lawsuit against the Internet Archive demanding $700 million for the extensive catalog of 78 rpm records. 78s are sometimes more than a century old at this point and i bet a lot of them are out of copyright, but i suppose for the few that still are majors are hitting it big towards the IA

This lawsuit is pretty much another existential threat to the Internet Archive and everything it preserves, including the Wayback Machine, and we're fucked if we ever lose access to the Wayback Machine.

the original article asked to sign a petition, but i think a more logical way to support is to donate them directly so that they have more money to better defend themselves in court in this and other cases they'll undoubtedly face in the future
