Lindybeige lost basically all credibility for me after the whole "Spandau" fiasco where he was trying to talk authoritatively about things he clearly didn't understand or had any knowledge of. It really made me question whether he knew anything at all about the things that I didn't know much about (pre-modern warfare mostly) and I ended up not watching another video of his after that.

If you can afford it it's a good idea to buy a Raspberry Pi since Raspbian is basically just debian. Then replicate your current setup on it and just try to tinker with it without any risks of breaking things or losing data.

If you're using a lot of Docker I would recommend learning the command line since you'll be able to use Docker on basically any real OS at that point.

Russia could have had legitimate concerns about escalators actions by NATO,

Do you think the invasion of Georgia or the initial invasion of Ukraine was an "escalatory action"?

You don't agree that Russia is waging a genocidal war of aggression right now? Because even according to their own media they are.

I'm refusing to engage with "facts" that are false. Russia is currently engaging in a genocidal war of aggression. They are bad.

Also, it’s ridiculous to imply that just because I understand something, that means I support it.

That's what I'm saying. I'm not saying you're a tankie because you're parroting false Russian propaganda talking points, I'm just saying I understand why people are saying that you are one. You know, the exact same thing that you're doing where you're trying to mask your support of Russia by saying you don't support it, but you do understand it.

Also, it’s ridiculous to imply that just because I understand something, that means I support it.

I don't disagree with this. I disagree with your assertion that you understand the reasons for the war.

while using a slur

  1. Tankie is not a slur.
  2. I didn't call you a tankie.

I can see why people say you're a tanking considering how you're literally parroting Russian talking points and having a suspiciously large amount of understanding for the excuses of Russian imperialism while not sharing the understanding with other imperialist nations.

At least we both agree that the correct solution to the Cuban missile crisis was the invasion and genocide of Cuba, or something.

I am also not a supporter of Putin’s war of aggression, although I do understand why he thought the war was necessary, and agree that those reasons are real (not saying that the war was necessary, just saying that Putin is not a lunatic).

Since you understand the Russian POV that big countries have spheres of influence that they control and little countries do not have agency, then you obviously also agree that the Americas are within the US sphere of influence and understand why they did all the coups that they did (not saying they were necessary, just saying that the US is not any more imperialist than Russia)?

And if that’s true, why do we need NATO?

Because even a destitute regional power can still bombard your cities, kill your civilians, and occupy your territory if they're willing to suffer the results.

GLAD YOU COMPREHEND WHY I’M AGAINST THIS NEOLIBERALIST TAKE ON “FREEDOM.” May your WHITE LANDHOLDING Europeans grant you the “freedom” you so crave!

I'm honestly not sure if I'm being trolled right now. In the previous post you were (mistakenly) praising the declaration of independence for providing equal freedom to everybody and now you're against it?

I hope this reading comprehension check works, if not, I hope you get to 12th grade comprehension this year!

Just to let you know, this is the first time you actually explicitly said why the US revolution was proof of anarchism working. Maybe focus less on other people having a reading comprehension level high enough to pull the words out of your mind and actually state your point rather than hiding behind vague statements.

When you know the declaration of independence was made to free everyone, EVEN if colonialists lied to keep slavery.

I'm not going to even engage with your other points because this shows that you're very misinformed regarding the most basic facts of the US revolution. The declaration of independence was never supposed to apply to anyone other than (white) landholding men. Any indian tribes allied with either side were allies of opportunity. The colonists explicitly wanted to expand westward into the indians which the british were against. The british were not oppressing the indians, the colonists were.

I'm not going to engage with your further since you don't seem to understand even your own positions.

[–] xzite@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

So just to nail down the goal posts before you move them again, you believe that native american tribes were anarchistic and because they were involved in the US revolution in some capacity, that makes the US revolution proof that anarchism works?

[–] xzite@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (7 children)

When people united against a common oppressor.

No offense but I'm not even sure if you know what your politics are. The US rebelled partially because Britain didn't want the colonists to expand West. It had nothing to do with anarchism.
