Where's the lie

Some people like vim the way it is. That's why they haven't re-invented it. If you want to use a more intuitive text editor, there are plenty available (such as nano or micro). They don't need to turn vim into a clone of something that already exists.

As for why it's still the default... It's the same reason why everybody uses QWERTY keyboards when Dvorak is clearly superior. People already know how to type with QWERTY and they don't want to take the time to re-learn with a new layout, change their workflows, etc.

It isn't universal, though. Garuda Linux defaults to micro. The web dev boot camp I was in didn't bring vim up at all! We only used nano! I think that was a disservice to the students, but the instructors must've thought that it would be too confusing.

Yeah, it's absurd. Don't you think that if this guy had vandalized a Christian or Jewish display that he'd get more than "criminal mischief"? This is a hate crime.

Aren't we all supposed to be dead by now from the poisonous vaccine? This has got to be the slowest-working poison I've ever seen.

I think the reason why people in the US care about this genocide (and not others) is because the US is funding it so hard.

It looks like OP typed it with their forehead.

No idea, and I don't care. What matters for me is that there are enough people on Lemmy to keep it interesting.

This doesn't mention Stalin or Mao.

Yeah, it's basically "If you keep calling all of the stuff I like 'communism', then I guess that makes me a communist."

Humans are moral agents, though. Just because something happens in nature, that doesn't make it okay. There are lots of examples of rape among wild animals, but that doesn't make it okay for humans to do it.

A lot of vegans are concerned about climate change, too, but it's really tangential to the philosophy. Veganism came out of the animal rights movement, so it's really concerned with exploitation and suffering. If there were no environmental issues with animal products, vegans would still be vegans.

Plants may react to damage, but that isn't the same thing as pain. Plants don't have a brain or a central nervous system.

Plants aren't sentient, so yes.
