Omar El Akkad is kind of a lib unfortunately. This book has multiple instances of him reporting CIA propaganda about Ukraine and China. Check out "Perfect Victims" by Mohammed El Kurd. Goes even harder than this book.
By definition, a Zionist is anyone who supports the development and protection of a Jewish nation in Occupied Palestine at the expense of Palestinian lives, land, and sovereignty. Any degree of that is Zionism. You are not an anti-Zionist if you support the development and protection of a Jewish nation on stolen, Palestinian land. Anti-Zionism isn't a big tent kind of club. AOC, Mamdani, Bernie, and anyone else who supports the continued colonization of Occupied Palestine are Zionists.

You can oppress your people, cancel elections, condemn and arrest journalists, send out neonazi gangs to kidnap men in the streets for forced conscription into the army, ban left-wing parties, arrest and murder socialists in your country, AND lick the boots (metaphorically) of other fascists dictators (in this case Trump and Netanyahu). These are all things Zelensky has done.
They tortured & imprisoned the Ayatollahs in the same torture dungeons as everyone else (see the link in my previous post). And Americans wonder why Iranians had a revolution to take control of their country back. If she backs it up with actions maybe. But words are empty and it’s too little too late. Her actions up until now have supported the occupying Zionist entity and its genocide. It’s hard for me and a lot of anti-Zionists to take her seriously when it is very obviously politically expedient for her to say this at this moment (especially right after Ana Kasparov called her out on twitter for her support of Israel). She’s still an opportunist that is part of an imperialist, Zionist party that is complicit in the murder of countless civilians across the globe, and, worst of all, doesn’t seem to understand that. You say “perfect is the enemy of the good” but what good is this for Gaza now when it is decimated and hundreds of thousands have been slaughtered, many still buried under the rubble?
