If an organization would support families during the strike it would be much more of a reality. Maybe a People’s Union of sorts.

Sorry to hear about the cat. Hopefully you didn’t need a CARB compliant.

Yeah it was cuz you had recently run the engine. Now you know. I would just keep checking it now and then and do the 3K intervals with synthetic if you can. If there’s nothing else wrong with the car, I wouldn’t be too concerned. Some engines are just known to burn fuel but might be worth doing some research to find out if there’s something causing it. Maybe do valve cover gaskets if it’s not a bitch in that model/year. Good luck!

Not sure where you’re located but for that price you’re gonna end up buying a car with similar issues if not more. Just do more frequent oil changes and top it off every now and then. Don’t let the oil get low enough to knock anymore. You’re killing the engine. Gonna break a piston rod or something.

Make sure the engine is cold and car is on level surface. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean. Insert it and check. Sometimes dipsticks are hard to read. Ur looking for oil level on any side of the stick. Take a look at the level after an oil change to know what to look for.

You can learn to do your own oil changes and save at least $100 per change if you’re doing synthetic. Just need an oil catch pan, ratchet and the right socket for the plug, possible something to unscrew the filter cuz people be putting that on too tight, and some jack stands. Do not be afraid of harbor freight or amazon to get this stuff cheap, unless you’re trying to boycott these types of places.

It was a good sentiment but we all knew Altadena was for sale. Most people don’t have the money to pay for a home while waiting to rebuild their last home and we all know insurance isn’t going to help with that. Not to mention the concerns about the environmental effects that fire had on the foundation and surrounding areas.

Plus, many who lost their homes were older generations. They’d gladly take a fat check and move to a new home then wait for years to rebuild. They just barely finished leveling some places after a year.

I use it to write macros in Excel. It’s awesome because it does the job and saves a ton of time because I don’t know VBA well. Worked fine is fortunately good enough for the things I’m using AI to code.

Mentally ill. What’s the prison system like in Australia? In the US this person could spend years in prison only to leave a more radicalized individual with more Nazi friends.

That’s a travesty

Not sure what the point of the pics is. Looks like a huge pile of killing devices being disposed of…

Cuz they’re not semi-automatic?

They’re ca-lor-IFIC!

Yeah but who’s gonna stop them? I know that’s the right answer for a pageant contestant, but be realistic.

They’ve done this before and it was hugely successful.

2019 VW Atlas SEL

Alignment has been off since I bought the car used. Dealership had to replace the steering rack for something unrelated and I told them to make sure the alignment is right. It was not. Maybe in their machine it is, but the wheel was not centered when driving straight. I looked at the live data in OBDEleven and there was an offset for mechanical center and straight line (see screenshots).

I adjusted the tie rods of each wheel equally so it would drive straight when steering wheel centered and ran the steering angle sensor basic setting in OBDEleven. I now notice that the dynamic lane assist (the alternate setting to stay in middle of lane) always veers to the right first and then centers. Also, the sensor offset is still there.

Is there something else I need to do to get rid of the offset? Something with ABS control unit?

EDIT: some additional live data

I posted a comment on a post about Paramount blacklisting people for being anti-Semitic.

The comment said “Jews and conservatives own Hollywood”

The post was removed for Bigoted rule.

How??? Just silencing anything related to Israel?

Lots of people on Lemmy really dislike AI’s current implementations and use cases.

I’m trying to understand what people would want to be happening right now.

Destroy gen AI? Implement laws? Hoping all companies use it for altruistic purposes to help all of mankind?

Thanks for the discourse. Please keep it civil, but happy to be your punching bag.

I’ve been trying to fix a whistle from a pair of aerodynamic (plane wing shape) cross bars for almost a month now. I tried the rope wrap, taped up all the holes, different positions and nothing worked. Finally I got the idea of putting a strip of fuzzy weather stripping along the bottom edge to brush the air below before meeting the air above the bar. Turns out it works really well! There’s still a very subtle whistle, but it’s amazing how well it works and for how cheap it is. Hope it’ll last. Good luck!

EDIT: haven’t tried it in heavy rain yet but will follow up

EDIT EDIT: works great in the rain especially because the rain is noisy anyways haha

EDIT: Wow this sub is so milk toast it makes me miss Reddit and I hate Reddit

Hi again. I took the car back to the dealer to re-align and the wheel is still turned to the left a little when driving straight. The tech showed me the numbers and that they leveled the steering wheel.

Is something wrong with my suspension, or should I try alignment somewhere else? Just live with it?

EDIT: when I let the wheel go and I’m going straight on a stretch of road the wheel is off center by about 10 degrees.

EDIT EDIT: called the dealership and they said alignment doesn’t include resetting wheel sensor via obd tool. Crazy.

I’ve been to smaller shops, I’ve been to dealerships, and the only time I’ve ever gotten an alignment done right was after I complained to a general manager. I know alignments are hard with the laser machines. It shouldn’t be a problem, right? Are they just being lazy? I hate having to go back to the shop and wait another 2 to 4 hours to get something done that should’ve been done right the first time.

EDIT: I’ve had this happen with my 2001 QX4 4WD, 2019 Q50 2WD and now with 2019 Atlas AWD

2001 QX4

It has been 90+ degrees where I live and when idling for more than 10-15 min, the A/C stops blowing cold and is humid. Works great otherwise when ambient temps are low and car is moving. The Freon pressure is good. The Enser is old and has some dents, but has been cleaned and looks to be getting airflow. How can I tell what is wrong? Replace the radiator fan clutch? Condenser? Something else? Should also note that the engine temp gets high when on long stretches up uphill highway, but I think that is somewhat normal for an old car, no? Thanks!
