Not necessarily, I have devices that are cloud dependent. Locally in NZ there aren't a lot of options, all smart plugs are cloud dependent. Also things like weather integrations will stop working.

Home Assistant. It's a rabbit hole, but it's great. I've got motion enabled lights, thermostats for "dumb" heaters, and I track device usage (tablet, xbox) of my kids.

This may impact lemmy.nz as well as it's a breaking change.

Lemmy is planning on having its 0.18.0 release tomorrow, and this adds compatibility for it.

Hi lemmings, I switched over from Reddit 10 days ago now but I couldn't find a mobile client that I was happy with with an experience similar to the Reddit experience I was used to. So I decided to build my own and I hope you will like it as well!

Play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kuroneko.lemmy_connect

Features:

  • Material U
  • Dark and Light themes
  • List view / Card view / Fullwidth view
  • Filter lists for hiding posts
  • Multiple accounts + switcher across multiple instances
  • Guest accounts for viewing an instance without signup
  • Search and community autofill
  • Markdown support + attempt to navigate links correctly (/u/foo will open that user instead of browser kickout. Same for /c/, !, and @)
  • Saving posts
  • full sort types
  • NSFW view options (hide, blur, show)
  • copy text and url on all posts and comments
  • add comments, replies, and new posts
  • comment replies with line indicators

Here's other screenshots:

Future plans:

  • Improving the inbox
  • Swipe actions
  • Multi-~~reddit ~~communities

Thank you for taking a look. I hope others who are migrating from Reddit like me will find the app useful and I'd love to know your thoughts!

Edit: Community for the app is here: https://lemmy.ca/c/lemmyconnect

Where did you get one? I bought a travel bidet on Aliexpress but that was terrible, not enough pressure. After the nozzle broke off and fell into the toilet, I immediately binned it.

The biggest life improvement for me was to get a bidet after reading about it on Reddit. It's been a game changer. It's so easy to clean up.

When I now have to go to a toilet without one I feel like a caveman. I bought the cheapest one Aliexpress, no bells or whistles, and installed it myself.

I'm working on a bug for a community on Lemmy.world and tested with my own account initially. This has marked my account as bot. On Lemmy.nz, I've unchecked that setting, and I'm no longer marked as bot on here.

However, when I view the post and my profile on lemmy.world, I'm still marked as bot? So it looks like profile settings like bot status may not be synced properly between instances?

See my profile on lemmy.world: https://lemmy.world/u/sylverstream@lemmy.nz And the post, in my comments it shows "bot" next to my username: https://lemmy.world/post/276715

And my profile on lemmy.nz: https://lemmy.nz/u/sylverstream The same post, and now I'm not marked as "bot": https://lemmy.nz/post/89563

I know people are confused about how fediverse works and how to use it. This is an attempt to compile a list of beginner's guides made by some amazing people on this topic.

I will update this list if any new guide is made so you can save this post for later. Also, if anyone has any good guide to add post it in the comments and I'll add it here.
