Nothing. But what you raised was bound to become a concern to someone at some point in the conversation.

You have seen the meme on the toaster with the touch screen that alts mid toasting bread, right? The toaster that supposedly has "smart" features to record how user X likes their bread. That is not something in need of registering.

The example is an obvious exageration.

No it is not but it was bound for the issue to be raised.

Depends on the amount of sugar added to it.

You made me smile with that line on the humans looking around and thinking in different ways to eat the landscape.

You are correct, our ancestors ate whenever and whatever they could but we are not our ancestors. We've developed and went above and beyond those constraints.

And this is not to deny your point. I can easily withstand an entire day with a single meal, like many others, but it is not pleasant. And it is very well understood how keeping a schedule for eating, properly, is benefitial.

I have. I have a few relatives that either suffered or suffer of diabetes and besides watching what and how much they eat, every single one keeps a life as close to normal as possible.

True. Every person is unique.

I can only reply with sitting down and stopping to eat, instead of the opposite. Keeping a schedule. Avoid junk food.

I'm quoting my doctor here.

Unless there is a need for a special regime, it is what I have been advised for decades.

There is a very long list of things for which software is unnecessary and improvement even less.

The meme: toasters. No toaster needs software to work; electricity, a resistance and a mechanical timer is enough.

I hadn't mention the gamification detail but that is a thing also.

Allow me my ignorance for a moment: on what?

It seems like everything and anything is about gathering data nowadays. Every small, minute, inconsequential detail of one lifes is worthy of being recordee, tracked, quantified.

Why?

What does it matter how much music I've listened to in a day, a week, a month and a year? What is the relevance of keeping a record of how many bowel movements I've had in a month (exceptions do apply)? Keep record how many books I've read, how many hours spent combing my hair, washing my teeth or how many showers taken in a month? Or by extention any other habit we may have?

What does it matter? Is it that important to carefully and methodically keep record of your life instead of just living it?

Or is it a way to justify all of those tracker apps being created at a dime a dozen?

I keep to my three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Meanwhile, I am constantly seeing people munching away on dehydrated fruit bits, protein this or that, fiber supplemented cookies, etc, to the point they overlook proper meals.

Did I miss a memo?

I've been gardening for several years now and I rediscovered my obcession with chilli peppers this year after discovering the Chinese 5 Colors dual purpose pepper.

Besides these, I have a few jalapeno plants and a non-descript variety I bought at the supermarket, already potted and well developed, as I was not getting any seeds starting. The newcomer must have generated a jealousy crisis because every seed I had commited to the ground decided to pop up.

I want to store seeds for next year but I don't intend to have more than one variety at a time growing, so I need to at least store and keep seeds healthy for two years.

It is so easy to pick up the callous indifference and the nihilism in those threads, the borderline eagerness to see the demise of the human species.

These are the persons I imagine as being extremely vocal - here - but quiet and subdued on the real world. The type of person that violently accuses others of doing everything wrong while doing nothing themselves. No matter how small.

These are the individuals that almost place bets on when a given catastrophic event might occur. Next to it, the sadistic dead end speech on how it is deserved because a given generation was like this or that and there is no change to be made or achieved because of crooked politians or moguls.

Are you entertained?

I am often diagusted with the things people throw in the toilet. Tampons, condoms, menstrual pads, baby diapers, colostomy bag seals, underwear...

Walk into a public access bathroom and the filth is just waiting to be witnessed. And the bigger the venue, the higher the chance.

Aren't people aware of what they are doing? The clogs they build in the pipes? Because if they do this outside, then have to do it at home.

p.s

I feel the need to add a clarification of what the three P's are, being:

  • pee
  • poo
  • paper (toilet)

This list is being slowly added to, in real time, and more P's are entering it. Namely:

  • puke
  • period
  • pilosity

I'll update this as I stumble into new P's but I doubt the original mnemonic will recognize updates.

I have a coworker travelling there in July. Unwillingly, I've been more or less been kept in the loop what preparing the trip implies and I'm pretty horrified.

Up until now, these are some of demands made (and accepted):

  • full disclosure and acess to social networks
  • criminal record
  • recent photo, perfectly groomed and in the attire to be used to travel there. No deviations will be tolerated from the supplied photo.
  • complete list of possible identifying marks on the body, with pictures (tattoos, moles, melanistic spots, scars, etc)
  • name and social networks of parents, siblings and other close relatives, including children.

The person is separated with two children; this is causing a lot of friction.

  • has already been warned an interview of up to two hours will be held upon arrival.

The person speaks broken english at best.

  • disclosure of place of employment and other connections to public organizations

They are connected to a local soccer club and a youth sports association.

To add to all of this, this isn't a standard caucasian human but someone who has looks that can be taken for someone from the middle east, slightly darker shade of skin included.

Flying from southern europe straight to Florida.

I'm concerned. I would not go, full stop. They have people waiting there for them but nonetheless. Considering the heated state of affairs, it is something I consider of not easily to overlook risk.
