surely there will have to be "no smart glasses" rules

They have this rule for ebikes at the lake I love to walk and the kids are zooming by anyway. I think we'll struggle to enforce it and that really sucks. I hope this fails. It's hard not to be pessimistic about it, as much as I can see some legitimate use cases. I just don't trust big tech with it, least of all Meta.

Heh...these days I kinda long for devices for for specific purposes again 😅 and I'm a software engineer.

Right, but this is the exact reason even Bernie refuses to use that word. Because then we are supposed to do something about it.

Buy refurb then, it's what I did and it's super fast. Returns are diminishing these days and your money will go further.

Bit weird to pin it on an age generation

Obviously photoshopped shit like this is a bad look on real issues man come on.

There's plenty of actual real trash urbanism you can share.

Hate to say it but it honestly doesn't sound crazy hard to just block any instance that pops up. Yes it's whack a mole but if it's an automated script, it can just crawl through a backdoor instance and ban any domain it sees.

Hey thanks for looking! I was in a desktop browser earlier when I was having issues but I'm on a phone now. I was having more trouble on the desktop browser.

Howdy, Chicagoland area here. I love the idea of a "location-federated" social media so I migrated here from lemmy.ml.

Migration was smooth however I'm finding this instance to be quite slow to load pages, is it just me?

I went to the last Chicago one... And while there is some solace in the feeling of being there and seeing a massive crowd of others opposing this fascist movement, I really couldn't shake the feeling that it feels like a glorified parade.

The route is planned out, the police cooperate to close the roads, everyone marches together and chants and then goes home.

Peaceful is one thing but a planned out disruption that's barely a disruption is just... Are we honestly doing much?

I have no doubt the developer means well but that highlight with misinformation about how Android notifications work plus the lack of any input from those knowledgeable or affected by the raids really erodes any confidence in this.
