You may ask me why I chose this frame from this film.

I found it curious that the family was watching “It's a Wonderful Life” dubbed in Spanish while on holiday in Florida. This contrasts with today's times, when immigrants are deported and democracy is destroyed by values that “It's a Wonderful Life” denounced as fragile but yet, essential for everyone. Not only in this festive season, but every day of the year.

A frame within a frame, I thought this would be, although unusual, the most pertinent film frame for this festive season. Happy Holidays!

Hello everyone!

First, I want to thank you all for making the Movie Suggestions community alive and sharing/asking for film suggestions in the fediverse!

When I assumed the modding of this community, I announced a few new guidelines for it, the most important being:

How to post a Movie Suggestion & How to ask for a Movie Suggestion

Since then, there's a lot of new posts, mostly not respecting or ignoring these guidelines.

Until today, I ignored posts not following these guidelines.

But, from now on, every user should respect the guidelines or their post will be deleted.

The two main guidelines (How to ask/post for a suggestion) are pinned and clear, please read them before posting.

From now on, posts that doesn't follow the community guidelines (title format, body, allowed links) will be deleted. Feel free to report posts that doesn't respect the guidelines.

Thank you for being part of the fediverse and the Movie Suggestions community!

Any feedback is always appreciated!

Hello everyone!

I hope you're enjoying the community!

While we appreciate all the users sharing their favourite album covers, it seems that a new guideline needed to be added to the community:

Guideline 10: Keeping Fresh & Diverse · To ensure genre variety, each user may only post one submission per music genre every 72 hours (excluding sub-genres).

Why was this added?

Some users are posting the same album genres almost everyday. While I appreciate that, for effort and the content, I don't want this community to become just one genre of music, and for other/new users to feel intimidated by that. This is a community made for all genres of music, where everyone feels comfortable sharing their favourite albums of any genre of music. Once again, thank you to everyone who has shared their favourite albums. But please, from now on, maintain a certain diversity in the music genres of the albums you share.

Before this frame, both of main characters are inside of a car. One of the main characters honks the horn, angry by the car traffic, the one honking the horn, thinks his sister is holding another protest/demonstration. There's normal friends conversations in the middle of this...

Then, the narrator says:

There were three demonstrations across the city that day. But the traffic jam holding them up had been caused by Marcelino Escutia, a migrant bricklayer from Michoacán. Marcelino had been hit by a speeding bus. He never used the pedestrian bridge, because it's poor location meant walking an extra mile and a half (2km) to his work site. His unidentified body was taken to the city morgue, where it went unclaimed for four days.

This reminded me of a song by Chico Buarque, called 'Construção' and a verse in that song; "Morreu na contramão atrapalhando o público" = "He died in the wrong lane, obstructing the public (aka the car traffic).". That song has too many layers to discover in this case, but I think the meaning was the same.

I'm interested :)

You're free to post the back/inside and/or other things about an album. The correct way of doing this is including them in the post. The main picture must always be the cover itself, if it's cropped or not, what matters it's the quality of it (Rule 2).

Ex:

::: spoiler Inside/Back Picture/s :::

I'm keeping this post for discussion.
