This was never an issue for me. I knew I was bi as early as high school, fucked a transfem in my early 20s, and now I am one. I recommend getting over your internalized homophobia, which I used to have. It can take effort to overcome psychological barriers, but it gets a lot easier after the first time. The only differences with a cis male are that his skin is slightly rougher, no breasts, and potentially a different personality. If you're ok with those differences, you may as well fuck a guy.

I did some tests several years ago, and I found that VP9 was roughly as efficient as h.264 and Opus was the top performing audio codec. (WebM specifies those two, maybe more since AV1 came out.) If the server imposes a strict limit on file sizes regardless of type, people will find ways to keep the size down, and the impetus is on the server because of people's constant drive to consume resources.

I'm not a fan, but from a technical standpoint I think embedding a non-mainstream external site like redgifs is worse. Lemmy supports direct uploads of some file types (possibly webm?) and there are systems like PeerTube for larger video hosting.
